Always been difficult to start with cold engine.. With exception of fresh battery and 80 or more degrees. Engine starts quickly at full strength if it'll spin fast enough.
Found a couple references on net to timing ending off from factory, and huge difference once corrected..
Had another tractor a guy needed a new battery for. He opted to get a new truck battery and use old one in his tractor. That gave me a new battery (750cca) to test in Mahindra. Would not start. Cycled intake heater a couple times and it started.
With new battery I wanted to see it's crank with fuel (on/off) solenoid unplugged. Engine raced over like it never has. If you've ever heard an old gas V8 labor to crank with distributor timing off, this engine reminds you of that.
I believe it has a Bosch VE injector pump. Pump body to engine timing marks are lined up. The pump has adjustment slots. Might adjusting this help? Know which way to turn it, room in slot to adjust it counterclockwise (top of pump.away from engine) bit can't tell about other direction.
I may have already tried it, but references to pump being locked made me a little gin shy.
When you do adjust a pump, the pump body nuts and injector lines at pump loosened, but do injectors need to be loosened at injectors too?
Engine has great power once going, out punches all of what we consider old tractors that supposedly have the same or more hp. Just the hard cranking has gotten a little worse and battery's keep getting more expensive
