metal or plastic roof question

I am considering either a metal or plastic roof for my RTV 900. Do these add more noise to the RTV by echoing off the roof? I have considered putting some sort of sound deadener on the bottom of the roof if I get one.

Thanks!

If the unit is enclosed (hard doors, windshield, rear window) then insulating the roof would be beneficial. Regardless, adding some sound deadener in any event wouldn't hurt.

I've only had the plastic. I went that route thinking the plastic is more forgiving when it meets the low-hanging branches. So far, so good. I haven't noticed any increase in noise.

Plastic on mine.No noise difference as it isnt an enclosed cab just the windshield.
So I can here all of the bad things the neighbor says about me as I drive by.
Plastic is more forgiving as you wont have to worry about bumping and denting it.
Plus the plastic roof is a lot cheaper in price.

I have metal.
Factory Kubota... has a sound damping foam thinky on bottom side.

I have never had and noise trouble. I like it ..... Have inside gun racks,
Pair of lights in front and back, different things attached with no problems ...

The Kubota oem plastic roof is sturdy. I had one on my '05 and got another for my'11. In this picture , you can see how the roof has an rain catch edge and "embossed" panels in the mold of it for strength. I can say that I have a lot of seat time since Feb of '05 and I do like the plastic roof. I also have the open cab and have no problem with it's performance. I go under slapping limbs and occasionally stand on this plastic Kubota roof to trim the limbs with my feet carefully positioned near the ROPS. I like the way roof's design directs rain away from your lap.( unlike some other plastic brands) bordercollie

Plastic here also; but for me, the best sound deadening is a rubber horse stall mat that I cut to size on the table saw for the bottom/floor of the bed........Dampens LOTS of the bed vibration noise that for me, is totally non-ignorable.........Anyway, works for me.....God bless......Dennis

I have factory metal. Use to have plastic but, added doors & a heater. the factory doors required the steel top. So, I swapped with the dealer. I don't really notice any difference. My 04 makes enough noise (& vibration) that u have to raise your voice to have a conversation. Of course, that might not be all bad when my wife is along, I can pretend I don't hear her (lol). Just kidding.

Think I've posted this before:
But I will post again ..........

Some vibration I had in the bed of the RTV. Just about a frog hair above idel, my bed would have a " zzzzzzzzzzzz " sound. It would come and go ... Didn't hurt nothing, but just didn't like it. So I installed these, and it went away !!!! They are installed in the front of the bed next to the cab, which is over the engine. Out of sight .

They are called Limbsaver Ultra Quads. They are very inexpensive item. This accessory for dampening vibration, shock and excess noise. They are Small, can be put just about anywhere. They are made for bows, but they do take vibration noises out ....
I have seen them in Wal-mart stores. Many outdoor/archery/ hunting shops carry them.

............. two guns

plastic or i would be dead. can't count trees that have wacked it with no damage and edge won't chop you or yours in half if she goes over on you. rather 4 broken ribs than dissection by roof edge.
