Installed this sander last week. So far it is working very well. Drive is 250' uphill with a curve, then a 30x50 parking pad. Spreads 60lbs of a local mix called "Traction Sand" with two passes.

Home Depot had the best price delivered to store, local dealer did not want to bother with such a little sander...

Purchased this Hornet Outdoors Hitch extender/riser.

The traction sand is part sand, part fine gravel. The key for me is to make sure it is dry. They do offer a different auger attachment that may help for sand, and also a vibrator. Adds quite a bit to the cost to do all that though. I contacted thier customer service and explained what i wanted to spread and they were very helpful.

That is interesting. When I was researching this I read a comment from the dealer (I believe) that said it is for bagged rock salt only and that is what is listed on the specifications sheet.. I have almost two miles of dirt road and much of it is near the Lake so I don't use salt. IF the vibrator option is needed it put the price quite a bit higher. I'd like to be able to see one work and how well it handles sand.
