two days ago my head lights and dash light went out --- thought I would work on it later --- today fuel gage stop working --- I dont know if the two problems are related --- all of the fuses seem to be ok that are under the bed -- if someone has any ideas I need them ---- thanks in advance --- bdk

If the fuses are ok, sounds like something like your power source just comeunplugged . That's the only thing I could think of . How many hours on your RTV ? Check out your high side on the fuse box, make sure it is getting power out of the box itself with a test light .Then I would go from there ....... Let us know !!!!

thanks for your note ---- everthing else seems to be working fine --- I will go back to shop in the morning and start checking power sources --- I only have 280 hours on it but it iall i the woods --- someting could of work free --- thanks again --- bdk

rzoomer,

Confirm fuse #3 is good. It appears to be the common point for the lights and gauges. This fuse is in the fuse box, lower right side (next to the fuse puller on the bottom bank of fuses).

If that fuse is good, as already mentioned, check the wiring harness connection points. If I recall, it's under the front hood, right behind the gauges.

The harness should have the following colors of wires.
Yellow
Red/Yellow
Blue
Brown
and some others...

I had a problem like this on some other equipment. It turned out that a rodent was eating through the insulation and wires. It would pick a different circuit every now and then. It also pulled some of the spade connecters off of the terminals.

They'll do it in the most hidden of places so look carefully.

I now cable tie and tape bait bars on all my equipment that is at risk.

I hope yours is just a fuse..

Well here is an update ---- I found the head light problem --- I had a bad connection at the switch --- but I did not find any thing on the fuel gage --- I have current at thegage and at the tank --- I dont know about the sending unit --- I dont know how to check it ---bdk

rzoomer,

I sent you a brief e-mail about the fuel gauge. Please send me an e-mail reply.

Brian

PS. I don't put an e-mail address in a post.... too many spiders and bots are out there to grab them for sending spam e-mails.

I had a problem on my 05RTV 900 hour meter. I found light corrosion on the spade connections. Cleaned them and it workedproperly. Isn't there an electrical grease to prevent this problem? Please advise.
