hay all! RTV question? our machine has the hydraulic dump on it, I'm seriously considering removing it to install an electric linear actuator for dumping power instead of the hydraulics... why You may ask? system works fabulous, but has 1 downfall.... its real hard to manually dump with the engine off, because checking engine oil all of a sudden late last year became a new top priority!, so yeah, want to be able to tip the bed without engine running to check oil. anyone done this? or am I the only nut that wants this? we also have a gator that I installed an electric dump on it and that works great for said purpose. little back story on the RTV, my son is the primary operator, he's 25 and autistic, this is his new wheels around our yard, well we(I) failed to teach him to check fluids, as we recently acquired it from my brother in law, I assumed it was fine as he just (in less than a year) redid the motor in it from seriously overheating it one day,) so it was run out of oil. sad face!! so we pulled it apart for a diag, and it must have been run a while dry before I heard it hammering and driving! anyway, I'm sure You all know the drill, needed many parts - crank, 1 rod, gasket set, bores not happy etc =$$$$$ and zero availability for parts. almost sprung for that kit online from Fridayparts, but then, I find a source for a brand new motor, with a 2yr warranty locally for $5200 taxes in and on my truck. so installed that and man, this thing dint run that well when we bought it! so now we want it to be easier for my son to check fluids, hence the change to electric power vs hydraulic. thoughts?? since it has hydraulics on it, I'm pondering ways to reuse or repurpose that system for something else?? have a snoblower that's yellow that does the job fine so I don't need a plow on it, thinking about a cab, buts that's a different story. so if anyone needs a new motor D902, the guy I got mine from is Amish and has no phone or internet, but makes gen sets??? I don't know how, but he has diesels from 5.5hp to 500hp in practically any brand, Cummins seems to his jam, but I've seen many others there, like 400hp Mitsubishi's and a sweet little 2.8l Cummins I want to drop into my Ranger, but that's also another story. he gave me a break on the price because of being a frequent customer, but he says he sells them for $5700 complete, pan to fan including starter and alt, if anyone is in the need for a D902... all I had to do was swap the pan as these come with the deep oil pan where the 900 uses the 1" shallower pan , and the flywheel is the next size smaller.
