Radio installation on a RTV 900

I am thinking about installing a radio in my RTV 900. I would like to go another route rather than the ceiling installation. Any ideas or suggestions?

Some thoughts/questions:

If you don't have a glovebox, that area may be a good choice. OK,
if you do have a glovebox, you may be able to fit the stereo inside it.

I have a marine (boat) stereo in mine. I chose this since they're more waterproof than a standard car stereo. Mine has a (wired) remote control that has most functions controled by buttons as well as a LCD screen that mimics the displays on the stereo. If you took this same approach, you could put it under the front hood and then mount (via velcro or something) just that remote control to the dash. If I didn't put mine on the roof, this is probably the approach I would have taken.

Are you going with a regular stereo/CD player or getting a satellite radio?

Where do you plan on putting the speakers?

Are you planning on installing an amp as well?

Do you have a roof? What other options/accessories? I'm thinking of options but need to know where it's dry in your RTV and where you may have electricity and such.

I recently saw someone make some boxes for speakers that fit on the wheel wells. I haven't yet heard how many times he kicks them.

I am now waiting for the UPS truck to show up with the RTV's Sirius ratio, I plan installing the radio receiver under the hood, and install the satellite receiver in the cab, next to my GoLight Swiches.the top panel I fabricated ( like yours ). Speakers, I don't know where yet, think I am going to have to play that situation by ear, I might have enough room above & behind my head. Have not purchased the speakers yet, but found some marine speakers that I might test fire ~~~ the size is small, so they might fit

Pun intended?

Speakers can be mounted all over the place on the ROPS.
Check out this site.

Follow their links for Marine stereos and speakers. Look at the wakeboard speakers. There's some nice small waterproof speakers on there. The owner of the company is a great guy and I know many that have done business with him. If/as needed for mounting, I like the O-clamp approach.

Just got off the phone with audioallies, think we are going to be able to do business, like the way he handles things. I'm calling him back as soon as the Sirius radio arrives, that way we will know what kind of hook-up we will need. Thanks for the source !!!! What watts speakers & radio do you think I will need?

I have a metal roof and a glass windshield and that's it for options. I haven't gotten to think what kind of radio, probably something cheap to listen to while I work. I would like a XM radio but most likely would use my Roady XT hooked up to the radio. Any suggestions on how to hook the radio under the dash. I saw somewhere that someone made his own boxes for the speakers. They looked real good. Anyone have any pictures of their installation?

I have looked, but cannot find who or the pics of someone installing the speakers under the dash next to the fender bind . I thought it was on this forum [*-)] Got to get them up and out of the way. Was thinking about mounting them above and behind my head. Something I going to have to study on !!!

I built a diamond plate aluminum box and bolted it to the rops and installed 2 speakeds in the bottom and dome lights and a 5 switch panel with an extra 12 v outlet the switches run the extra lights I have on front and back and run the radio it's an alpine with xm built in.

kas1263 (and everyone else),

In the following link, there's a speaker bar and box for a receiver.

I haven't used either but the reviews look good. Hunterworks had a speaker bar that mounted to the back of the ROPS but not sure if they sell them anymore. I'd give them a call to see if they have them and if not, they may be able to tell you where to find them.

The thread about the speaker boxes is here. I don't care for the site, but that's where the thread is...

That's a loaded question...

I found that a receiver directly connected to speakers provides just "OK" sound quality and volume. I have 2 speakers with this setup and they work although the quality is nominal. If you add an amplifier, the quality and volume greatly increases. With an amplifier in use, it's much better.

I'd pose this question to Terry at AudioAllies.

I bought one from cabela's and it doesn't fit you would have to built brackets . I f someone wants to buy it it's still in the box. Give me an e-mail and we'll work something out.

thanks

Well, if it will not fit your RTV, it will not fit mine ~~~ Send it back to Cabela's and get you something else for your Kubota, like a Rumble Seat or something. Or change it out for some spot / search lights. I know they got something that will fit the RTV's ~~~~~

Andy,

I might be interested in your speaker bar. I sent you a PM.

I have 2 speakers mounted to the rear of the ROPS. When I mount the new air intake, those speakers may have to be removed.

Can you post a pic of the speaker bar near the ROPS? Sitting on the seat back or something? I need a mental picture of what type of brackets need to be fabricated.
