RTV500 Rear Axle Weight

Does anybody have a rear axle weight for the 2010 RTV500, as I do not want to over load my ramp and I have an adverse reaction to falls should it fail. JH

I've got no idea but I originally used 1000 lb aluminum ramps to load mine on the utility trailer and bent both of them putting it on the trailer. The first time I loaded it on my trailer I had a bit of butt pucker going on. Last year I went to a trailer shop and had an awesome loading gate fabbed up and welded onto my trailer...I told them I wanted to be able to put 3k minimum on it so they built it very heavy duty. Works great, if you have the option I would recommend a complete folding gate instead of a couple ramps, I don't like ramps they need to be lined up just so and you have to be careful they don't slip out when you drive up them....a full width gate is easier and doesn't cost much more if you're using a trailer to move your buggy.

I'm with DD. Those ATV ramps are pretty risky, but... If you're pulling it onto a trailer using those type of ramps, they're low enough that you could use some cinder blocks or similar underneath them at the 1/2 way point which "should" then make them strong enough since you've cut the span in 1/2.

Like BC said id support them in the middle to be safe. Can be done with jack stands a piece of 4x6 wood anything really. If weight dont matter a cinder block would work

Bent my first set of aluminum ramps first time loading RTV on tandem trailer.

Found some heavy duty aluminum ramps, load range much heavier. No problem !!!!

I don't haul my 900 but we have angle iron steel ramps (hinged) on the equipment trailer should I need to. I did make a big pile of sloped dirt packed down and just use that for the loading the 4wlr in the truck. Still though that would only solve half the problem, you would need to get it off elsewhere on something .Are you trying to get it on a low trailer or your truck?I'd heard that the 500 will fit in a truck bed is why I asked. bordercollie

Had a set of nice steel ramps that came with the tandem trailer I purchased. They slid into the trailer on the side.

They were so dern heavy, but let a close friend use the ramps one day to use to load a tractor. He lost or somebody stole his. Told him to keep them until he comes back this way. No need to make special trip.

Two weeks later, IRS sent him a letter, his wife left him. He took his own life. Just could not make myself go a asking his family for my ramps back. So I went and purchased me a good heavy duty set of aluminum ramp. They work for me just fine .....

Thanks for the ideas, my existing aluminum ramps were rated at 1000# and my Dodge PU bed sits fairly high off the ground. Instead of trying to load it in my truck, I purchased a new toy hauler with a ramp that is rated for 2500# and the angle is much lower, so loading should be a little easier. JH
