Signal lighting

I ride on the road sometimes and I've used my RTV for some public events (doing parking, public safety, fire protection...). For all of these scenarios, I like to have some kind of warning type lighting.

Right now, I have an Ecco strobe light on the roof. Well, I may have to move or remove it for placing the GoLight.

So, I was thinking of getting away from roof mounted light bars and going with a LED or similar setup that's much smaller and can fit elsewhere on the RTV.

Anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with these lights? Any particular brands to avoid?

Is anyone familiar with Crossfire LED lights?
I kind of like this package.

I would put the large one in the front and the 2 small ones in the rear.

Thoughts?

From doing MANY law enforcement units in my business. The lights that you selected are great sets. They are so many different brands & styles of these lights, it would be hard to select the " best " ones for they are all great pieces of equipment. Galls would be a good start to see what style lights & prices to go to. There are hundreds of wholesale companies on the internet to choose from, the question is, how much money do you want to spend. Low profile / LED light bars are the best on the market !!! Might want to look into the " Wig - Wag " light kits for the headlights. They would look great in action on the RTV, and would not take up no room for the GoLight ~~~~~~~

jamie,

I looked at the wig-wags but I'm leaning against them. Not being in law enforcement, am I allowed to use these when going down the road? I was trying to stick as much as possible with an amber lens since I thought red and blue (and possibly flashing white headlights) are reserved for police and emergency vehicles.

As a retired Washington, DC, police officer I offer the follow regarding flashing lights. Each state has it's own regulations concerning flashing lights. In DC, you were not allowed to have flashing headlights. In Kentucky, where I am now, red lights are for firefighters and blue are for law enforcement. Wig wags are cool to look at but hard on the bulbs. I suggest you check with local law enforcement for proper guidence.

Thanks kas. I think I'll stick with plan A of just using amber.

Just out of curiosity, how well can you see at night if the wig-wags are on? Also, don't most wig-wags come with replacement bulbs that can better handle the strobe action?

BTW kas - When did you leave the DC area? I've been doing a lot of work in that area over the past couple years.

Maybe like driving threw a Disco Dance Club !!!

Some companies, have heavy duty bulbs for this >>>>>>>>

I left in 1993. Wig wags are distracting but you get used to them. Personally, I liked straight headlights with flashing lights in the grill and on the roof. If you're going to use them on private property what would it matter? I would think as long as you're not acting the fool no one would bother you at any public event on public space/ roadways.

Ever get your golight set up. what decision did you make on the other lights ?

My other golight just come in UPS, and made me think of it ~~~~

I haven't installed the golight yet. For the wiring, I need to remove my roof so I want to have everything (including the signal lighting) together so I only have to pull it off once.

For the signal lighting, the Crossfire lighting I'm looking at is on e-bay but still has a few days left.

I don't blame you for waiting for all the parts & gadgets to come in.

I have uninstalled & installed my top so much, I made the joke to my wife I need to come up with a "quick connnecting" roof system.

Zoom try and stay with led lights they don't have a big power draw. most of the new fire engines and cop cars are running the leds. Jon
