spacers and taller tires

I am a new owner and farm. I plan on using the rtv to pull my atv row crop sprayer. We have used a Suzuki quadmaster 500 in the past. We have finally worn the Suzuki out. My question for some of you is, are there any wheel spacer kits for the rtv out there? These spacers would give me a little more space between the crops and the tires. Or, are there reverse dish rims? Would Iprobably have to get a lift kit for this too if I widen out the tires? I have read some of the forums about taller tires, is this a good move or does it lower the power as some have suggested? Thanks for any information. I am really looking forward to using it!

Kubota does not sella wheel spacer, but its a very common rim size, I am sure you can find some.

BRSK,

You actually wore out a QuadMaster? If you had the QuadRunner (pedal shift instead of auto), would it still be running? I didn't think it was possible to kill those machines (at least I was never able to do it).

To run the sprayer, how far apart do you need to get the tires?

The rim offset is already out pretty far. I can't think of a rim that could move you out any farther. A spacer may be your only option. Whatever the distance, I can see you'll probably have issues with the fenders rubbing. For this, you'll probably need the lift kit. If you install the lift kit, then get taller tires, you may run into rubbing again.

The Quadmaster still runs but has amysterious noise that sounds like it is coming from the front end but is not. We have torn it apart, also had thedealer, but nothing there. It must be more of aninternal gear noise coming through. The dealer said runit till it breaks, then we will know what it is. So we ran it the rest of the summer and this winter in the snow. It still makes the noise but still works. It has been a great ATV.

As for the automatic vs the shift that has not been a problem. We have replaced only one drive belt after several years and a few thousand acers of spraying with a 200 gallon tank on a pull type sprayer with 45 ft booms.

For spraying soybeans with 15" rows, the tire spacing is perfect. For corn in 30" rows,I would like to get it at least four inches wider.

BRSK,

On the Suzuki, is it by chance coming from the right side of the engine, behind that primary cover? I've heard of one that had a mystery noise there that was almost impossible to figure out as it's veeerrrry rare.

4" wider may be difficult. I don't have the bolt spacing but Baer (and others) make a relatively universal spacer. Not sure if they make them more than 1" though. With 2", that would put your tire centers at around 48". That may give you enough space.

Something else I'm thinking of (thinking out loud here so I'm not really sure)... Are thinner tires an option for you? OEM has 46" tire centers. If you had 8" tires instead of 10", can you gain a couple inches that way? If/as I recall, the RTV can use the same rims as the rears on a BX1500. I wonder if the front tires/rims off a bigger tractor may fit.

bczoom,

We thought the noise was coming from the front right u-joint but wasn't. It could be coming from the primary cover and sounding like it is from the front. Do you know what was wrong with the one you heard of?

Narrower tires could be an option. I was thinking of a 1-2 inch spacer to get that 4 inch number.

If the noise is coming from under the primary cover (right side), it may be that the spring on the tensioner for the timing belt broke. This then makes the tensioner flop around and rattle. It is rare so I'd assure the location of the noise before tearing it apart to check it out.

PS. Need any parts or accessories for the Suzuki?
Here's a pic of mine (before I sold it).
The new owner didn't want a bunch of stuff I had for it so I still have it.
I have a couple front rotors/brake assemblies, maybe a muffler and some other mechanical stuff.
I also have a bunch of accessories. Heated hand grips (new), the light bar and windshield (as pictured), a whole bunch of saddle/storage bags, cup holders (that swivel), spot lights...

I found some Kubota RTV wheel spacers on EBay. Just did a search for "Kubota RTV Wheel Spacers"...and bingo! Seller wasThe Tracks Company at 510-601-7550. Worked for me.

I read somewhere that the RTV wheel bolt pattern is the same as the Ford Ranger, so you could possibly use the tires and wheels from one of those, they would be narrower and possibly could get them with more offset.
