Top speed

What is the top speed of an RTV 900 in low and medium? Also top speed of an RTV 500 in low. How well do they hold these speeds on hills?
Can you go up steep hills and hold about 10 MPH?

probably 10 in L and 20 in M on 900 depending on tires and terrain. Mine slows to 10 mph in M going up a 20% grade. Fully loaded or empty makes no difference.

My 2011 RTV 900 xt model with the new design transmission will drop to 22-24 going up a hill in H. Top speed is 28 . I seldom use L or M unless I am pulling a load. I am going on 600 hrs and have an enlarged screen in the arrestor. bordercollie

My 500 will crawl up most any hill, the longer the hill, the slower it goes... think tractor, not ATV/UTV. JH

Spoke with Kubota representative today at the farm show. One of their biggest complaints was the top speed. US Kubota representives have ask for a higher top end speed. The corporate people in Japan didn't like the liability issues of a higher top speed. With that said, the representative indicated Mother Kubota will increase top end speed by 7 mph in a couple of years.

On my 900 l =1- M = 15 to 17 H = 25 to 27 Yes it would be nice with more speed but im sure there are stupid GOVT regulations involved as always.Personally Id like to see it hit the 35 mph Mark myself.Anything faster would be a bit squirrely.

25-26 Max .......
Loaded with Man & weapons.
Flat Ground ...
No Curves ....
No Wind .....
You can still count the fence post as they go bye >>>>

WIth me driving, my RTV 900 XT will average around 6 mph! What's with that?

Mine stays in "M" range most of the time. Seen to many piece of farm equipment damaged by running too fast. Had a guy that baled my hay for just one season tell me that it was my responsibilty to repair the tongue on his baler that was cracked as the result of armadillo holes that he ran into. I assured him that baling at a ground speed of 10 mph was the cause for his cracked tongue. Remember he only baled my hay one season.

My use of the RTV is for working with pleasure. Bad backs don't like being bounced around, nor do they like bending over to repair broken equipment.
So I just put around taking care of my farm while trying to smile alot.

.............. and I agree with you 110% mister.....

I putt ... putt..... putt around with ours ...

The reason I know how fast mine runs. Put it on road in front of shop
with the GPS, (ours don't have MPH gauge.) when it was new to see.

A person could just about walk as fast as I run in the fields and woods.
Life is too fast.
RTV just slows it down to see the world as it needs to be seen !!!!

Also, I can not see hog & deer track if I go fast, that would take all
the fun out of it ......

.......... jamie

Personally, I think the RTV's suspension is too tight for higher speeds. When you hit a bump or hole, it's too stiff to absorb so it sends the whole RTV into motion. Not safe IMHO.
