Winches

Has anyone every purchased one of those Chicago winches from Harbor Freight? They have one for 59.99. I have always avoided buying anything requiring electricity from a place like Harbor Freight. I realize you get what you pay for and I am sure that is the case with this but i was just curious to know if anyone had made that leap of faith before? As little as I find myself in the position of needing a winch, i'm thinking this might be a cheap alternative.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts

I have 2 of winches from H B F and they both do what I want them to. one is the $59.00 3000 LB unit with the remote control. The other is the cheaper one that is rated at 2000 LB and didn't have the fairlead. But I found one at a flea market and made it fit. I can use a snatch block on both and that will help . Everything has it limitations and you have to keep that in mind. My 2 cents

Thanks Contender! I was just curious if anyone had bought stuff like that from them. I have a 2002 Honda foreman w/ a Warn winch on it that I think I have used 4 times, and that was only b/c I had just got it and I wanted to see if it could pull a tree out of the road (it worked:wink:). I bought a 1140 and 500 hundred this January and accessorizing two of these things is getting a little ridiculous. Riding around in the woods is not my only hobby, so I am always looking for ways to save a little when I can. I do realize that this winch is not the "end all be all" of the winch world but if last through it's warranty period I would be happy, I just really wanted to see if anyone could say it was even worth 59.99. It just doesn't seem possible for them to sell some of the stuff they sell for the prices they do.

Bump.

EH - Cabela's has a Superwinch on sale for $79.99.
It's a bit light at 2000# but personally, I'd trust it more than a Chicago brand.
