Hey fellas,
I was working under the dash installing a new head light switch on my 1997 JD 870 the other day ,
As I was inspecting the rest of the area I noticed a RED wire and one GREEN wire that looks as if they used to be plugged into something ,
But for the life of me Would not see where they may have went. one comes off the area where they are 3 other green wires plugged into a relay of sorts.
Any one have a Wiring Diagram for 97 JD 870 4x4 handy . ?
I have noticed my alt does not seem to keep the battery charged, Have to put her on the charger ever now and again
Thanks in advance for your help

OK, I got out the shop manual.
Red/green coming out of the fuse box appears to be for tail lights. Do you have lights on your fenders or a work light pointing out the back?
Check your forum messages.

Here's what I think you may be looking for. Bottom right corner of section blocked in red. It's listed as "tail lamp".

Hey @HBTexas - My 770 lights are acting up.
I have taillights but no dash or headlights. The gauges all work fine.
What were your symptoms (and resolution)? My fuses look good but I have no power to headlights. Guessing I have no power to dash lights but I need the headlights more.

Mine was just a disconnected wire going to tail lights, I would suggest checking with w volt meter ? Maybe you got a loose ground wire ?

I've been checking everything. At this point, I think it's something behind the dash or in the wiring harness. That'll take hours to dig through. I just found some new high-end LED lights on a shelf. At this point, I may just wire those in for headlights.

Dug further - it was a loose connection for the headlights at the back of the fuse panel.
Still might add aux lights.
