Help zeroing in on the right RTV for me

As you can see, I also have the self-powered snow blower which attaches to the RTV. I only need it a few times a year, when a heavy snow has fallen and the snow banks on the side of my narrow road leave me nowhere to push the snow with the plow. You can see me using it on You Tube at...

Help zeroing in on the right RTV for me

I can echo 2810 guy. I have a similar set up, obviously doing pretty similar work. I love my 900!

    Moving Wood

Great work! I confess to being jealous of the hardwood! But share your enthusiasm about the usefulness of our RTV's! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

    IT has SPRUNG

This morning it's -36F, but a brilliant blue sky and sun above the horizon at 8:30ish--so yes, Spring is coming. :-)

    IT has SPRUNG

Been paying $4.73 a gallon for diesel all winter up here. Expect to see it at $4.80 or more when I go into town today... Highest we've paid was about $5.10 a couple of winter's ago. (Converting price per litre to equivalent per US gallon.) Re. weather, clear and bright today, with slight...

    IT has SPRUNG

Got a while to go in our neck of the woods. We are getting some lovely sunny days (307 amp hours produced by my photovoltaics today), but it was -40 this morning (same in C and F). Had the RTV out plowing yesterday afternoon, but was only about -12F, so short-sleeve weather. :-)

    RTV Comes Through Again

Your pics are great, Bordercollie! And looks kinda like home for me! Mind you, around here 24F is short-sleeve weather! :-) But I am not surprised at your experience. I have never had my RTV900 fail to start, even at -30F (or lower). Of course I do plug her in for an hour or so before...

How to check the cooling fan

I do not profess to know much about such matters (I am a mechanical blunderer more than anything else), but is it not the case that the temp. point would only have power if the thermostatic relay was in the 'on' position--i.e., the engine temp would need to be hot enough to trip the relay and...

How to check the cooling fan

Welcome to the forum, Ed! And what a lovely wife you must have! Certainly she has good taste in machinery! :-) You will find that the forum is a gold mine of useful (and sometimes entertaining) information and advice. Re. your cooling fan, what makes you think it is not working? It is not...

    2WD 4WD lever binding

I have never attempted to shift between 4wd and 2wd except from a stop. Usually works fine, but sometimes need to do the Bordercollie wheeling...

    Something different...

Quite impressive in all kinds of ways, and you have obviously been doing your homework. Any sense of how cold temps impact the battery charge?

pics of ya'll monster tricked out rtv's or any utv .

Sounds familiar--my high school wheels were attached to a much beloved 1951 Willy's Jeep pickup--into which I had dropped a 1945 flathead 4 engine, given to me by a guy who was replacing it with a Chevy 289. I just needed a motor. :-) Would love to have that old truck!

Some very useful add-ons, Captain! Hope you don't mind if I steal some! (The bin behind the seat is brilliant! And I like how you attached the mirror.) Thanks for sharing and posting the pics!

Not sure if my snowblower attachment counts as 'tricked out', but it also is part of my RTV900 fun... :-)

tricked out toy? Don't know about the 'tricked out' part, but while my RTV900 is every inch a working machine, fully responsible for earning its keep here on the property, I also have to confess that it brings me the same kind of fun that I see in my grandson when he is playing with his toy...

    Easy Range Shift Assist Knob

This has been my experience with snow plowing as well--getting a feel for when it's time to shift and definitely helps to give it a moment. Generally I find the butter shifting--hitting the bear shifting when I get in too much of a hurry. (Which can lead to other unpleasant things, too.)

New here, let me introduce my RTV500

What a nuisance with the winches! And a bit unsettling to have the exact same thing go wrong two times in a row. Fingers crossed for #3!

New here, let me introduce my RTV500

Welcome to the forum, General! You have a lovely machine--and nice job on the bed rails. If I am correct in thinking that you have not applied any bedliner, you may want to consider doing so. I am sure that the others will have lots of other add-on advice! And don't keep us in the dark...

That's a lot of bucks just to get hydraulics to run my snowblower!
