New RTV for me??

I am considering getting a new 2011 RTV. Currently, they offer 0 -60 financing and the prices seem competitive. I was offered the WS with dump for a little less than 12 , The "S" model with liner, alloy wheels and speedometer for less than 13 and a GP model for much less- thanks to Two Guns help. I am still concerned about the ujoints on the new models but have over 4000 hrs on my 05 and small things are starting to happen . The front boots are aging and one has cracked. Dealer said around $200 to fix that one side with just the boot. The complete shaft for one side (parts only) is around 500. I can get a boot but have never taken the front end apart before and knowing my luck it will all be stuck tight like the rear was when I replaced those joints and bearings. So anyway I had a JD dealer friend also tell me the Kubota was the best for work as did Two Guns and I value both opinions . I guess reluctantly my future workhorse will stay orange. Also 7% tax has to be paid on it even though it is strictly for farm use. What is the word on the new XT RTV that ya'll been hearing regarding price? Thanks , bordercollie

Can't help you on the new ones but at 4000 hrs, it may not be a bad idea. Like an old car, they may run good but will still nickel and dime you to death.

Thanks BCzoom. I am going to tackle the boot replacement after I get the new RTV and will replace all of them. After a good lookie they are all age cracked. Jc whitney has some replacements guaranteed to fit for it for around $20 each and a name brand. Glad I'm doing it my self. That will save a decent % of the hydraulics feature's cost. I will look at the bearings in the hub too while I have the shaft out.
Now I have to decide if I will use the hydraulics with the weed wiper . I ain't getting any younger and everything seems heavier - The tool box I welded up and mounted in the bed weighs a lot. Thanks for the reply. bordercollie

Thanks bordercollie for your posts. I just traded for an RTV 1100 from my local dealer.
Your and other members helped me to decide on the Kubota over the Rhino and JD.
This site is a wealth of information.
The best price quote I could get was $17200 straight out for the 1100 with aluminum wheels and spray in bed liner. The 900 they had in stock was $12500 without the wheels or bed liner but it was camo. kimosabi

Kimosabi, Congratulations. The enclosed cabs are nice and you will really enjoy it- especially in the harsh weather. My intentions are to go and get mine today. This S model didn't have the atv tires but the dealer is putting a set on the alloy rims for me. He told me that the net shipment of machines would have a price increase so I tied the knot. 0/ 60 is too good to pass up when the price is right as well. I have to say that my old unit- an '05 ws - was around 10300 without a top or liner but with the dump, and a new one like it with the improvements to the driveshaft and transmission was less than 12 so I don't consider that much of an increase with the way metal and everything else has gone up.
In one of my posts on this thread I mentioned that jcwhitney had boots for the rtv- well they are the norrec universal boot and through them this is a 4 to 6 week wait. Yep I asked them to confirm that , so I either getting them at the K dealer or getting someone to order them for me. I think it will be the dealer because all the other after market stuff I bought didn't fit right and had to be altered ujoints etc. - Have fun with the new machine Kimosabi.! bordercollie

CONGRATULATIONS to the both of you on your new RTV's!!!

I still have my '04 900 so I'm getting jealous.

BC - You mentioned "harsh winters". Are you talking yours (in MS) or ours (in the north)?

I was talking about ya'lls blizzard winters and our hot, hot summers. LOL I hope the extreme weather changes occurring are not an indication of our winter to come down here. 105 was the hottest with a heat index of 115 to 120 . And it is so dry - RTV can't help there. I'm not getting a cab though- an occasional frozen nose I can deal with -RTV with a cab payment - I can't even interest free. bordercollie

At least I/we can dress for the cold. You would not want to see me undress enough to handle the heat y'all have.

Now that is for sure!! Definitely got a canopy in the RTV deal - 'bout everyone needs one of them. :) bordercollie

My 900 has been getting a real dump truck workout gathering rocks lately. I don't have many hours on mine but they have almost all been work hours or else idling. I don't pleasure ride at all. I bought it to work around the farm and it does that well. Will be hauling more rocks later this week after it dries out from the rain we just had.

Good to hear from you Muleman. How do ya'll like the new driveshaft? and the braking? Bczoom, I wouldn't consider a new machine except for the hours I have on mine. I'd rather not have a payment and a low hr RTV any day. I am really sort of attached to mine. I know just how to get it to do what I want - with the pedal and transmission I mean. It's just the wearing out parts that pushed me to the new one. If I had to hire my work done, it would about be equal to payment for quite a few months anyway. bordercollie

Well, that's simple. Just take parts off the new one to put on the old and keep driving the old RTV. The new one can be your "parts" vehicle. :)

Yea, I'm gonna cry all the way to the bank- when I put the $$ in from selling it. Glad I went with the hydro dump since I'm used to it- Tomorrow is the day though- didn't work out today- got allergic to something around here and stayed close to the house afterwards. The neighbors spraying for some cotton pest it was that or the granola bar- The 05 got me home to help - I do love that machine. bordercollie

Will the '05 get a retirement party (or semi-retirement) anytime soon? If so, are we invited? What should we bring (and don't say boots, driveshafts and bearings :) )

Aw Zoom, you took the words out of my mouth. But you forgot to say seat ,2 front tires and armorall. That'll do. :) bordercollie

Ah Shucks!... Bordercollie...I was looking forward to future reporting of your old trusty 900rolling through 4500 hrs on its way to 5k. Congratulation on your shiney new machine. Look forward to your opinions as you break the new work horse in. Post a picture of it before you get it dirty.

Hossy- a Great 04/05 RTV retires to cleaner pastures

Thanks Kanook, It's bittersweet. I am gonna miss it because I know every nut and bolt on it and every little quirk and how to get it to do what I want. I have no doubt it would make it fine to 5000++ hrs but I don't do serious engine work and was tempted by the 0%. I could spend $800+ on it right now-new seat, two front 589 tires , cv boots, stop solenoid- (to be sure it is right )add more $$ for a factory drive shaft and then what would happen? I don't know- maybe nothing . With this new machine I will have a improved drive shaft , and the braking improvement will be nice although I am use to my machine and it works fine for me. - The making it mind is all in the ankle.
Now what really looked nice to me on the "S" was the transmission cooler located across from the radiator under the seat. I didn't know about that until I saw it. The new shaft looks nice and has cv boots on it at the joints.I also saw the grease fittings in the rear ujoints . The seat is molded to "fit".
Can you believe I am a little sad about giving the old Hossy up? I also wanted to see just how far she would go for me. I did take really good care of her and never abused the thing- changing fluids and never hot rodding but putting it through the real work.
The new "S" comes tomorrow and I will indeed post some pics. I have an awesome dealer that Two Guns recommended- He gave me the front mud flaps after the deal was made. Thanks Guys, Bordercollie

Bordercollie, I am with Kanook. I suspect we will hear much less from you because you will not have to replace fans and all the other repairs. You are my hero! I have 370 hours on my 08 RTV 1100 and I hope to have it until I take the big dirt nap! I am not too mechanical, but I have started to do more and more because it is so darn expensive when the dealer does the work. This site as been great. Thanks for all your contributions. I suspect we will hear from you quite a bit as you evaluate your new machine. Don't worry, you will get attached to that one too. I wish you the very best of luck with the new machine. XTROOPER

Thank you Xtrooper. I appreciate the kind words. The high cost of labor and parts also caused me to jump into the repairs.
I will miss the flex a lite fan on the '05 and as soon as the warranty ends , I will probably put one on this "11 model- if the temperature runs up too high for me to feel good about it. Evidently, from what I was told a lot of people have cracked their engine heads by letting them overheat.
I'm posting some pictures of the new "Honey". You will see the new drive shaft and hopefully the cv covers will show up where the ujoints use to be- the Hossy and Honey side by side, the new hydraulic cooler just waiting for a nice stick to poke it- what ya think Whatscookin after your recent stick incident? I think I may need to improvise a stick guard out of expanded metal or really heavy screen similar to the radiator - . The plywood seat bottom has been replaced with a plastic board. The seats are contoured to fit your bottom but are really stiff. I am spoiled because I had put a piece of memory foam under the marine upholstery on the Hoss.- I may consider adding a cover and putting the foam underneath it on the honey- The memory foam makes the bumps much softer. Now the transmission is super! Yes you really can climb a hill in H. I haven't pulled anything heavy yet so will try that next- I will need to get a 2" hitch for it though . It will easily get up to 27mph -hold onto your hat friends.
The front bumper is more curved and will protect the lights more.
I really like the alloy wheels- I hadn't intended to get them but the difference in price was small so I went for it. I did go with the plastic roof because it will do what I need and won't show scratches as bad as the metal one- plus sometimes I stand on it (above the supports )to trim limbs and such. And the big thing-it was a great deal. I got the front mud flaps for free and will install them tomorrow.I now need an empty place under the carport to park it. Thanks for all of the encouragement - more info to follow. I will start getting the Hoss ready to "retire" in the next week,. bordercollie

A couple questions.
Is the new one taller? It looks like it in the first pic.
What's your plans for the old one?
