New RTV for me??

Early Models are still great machines

Thanks !The '05 would do what I asked most of the time . If I had less hours on it, I would not have updated to the "11. As many hrs as I put on one though, I decided to sign on the line for 60 months. An average of 600 hrs a year pushed me on to that decision. Lighter hrs a year and I would have kept it and put the $200 a month in my pocket - Interest free or not, that is a lot of dough for me .Yes, the '11 is improved but the '05 will still out work most anything else out there. I had a mule before the '05 so the '05 was like a caddy to me after that one. Maybe that is why I still am attached to it.Once I got good tires, it got me all around the farm even if sometimes it had to be in "L".The cows are disappointed though because I can catch them quicker in the '11, the '05 just took a little longer but was still a force to be reckoned with. This is a picture of the '05s first rescue. A new born calf had got stuck in the mud around the pond. We brought it to the house to rinse it off with heated outside water before taking it to the barn and placing it with the mama. I still had on the WS tires and had to park a long way from the mud with those tires but still got the calf hauled. That's the tires I have on to sell it because the 589 fronts are worn out. Yep, driven by little old lady that went through 3 or 4 sets of tires! bordercollie

i would hang onto that old 05 and just see how many hours you can get on it.use the new one to work and just drive the .05 around to run it..she was your baby the way you talk abut her.

I would like to see how just how far she would go too but I've got to replace the down payment I made to keep my payments in my reach. So she'll be for sale and I'll do like Xtrooper said and get attached to the new one. It won't be hard -thats for sure. bordercollie

Was the calf OK?

The calf was cold and exhausted. We rinsed the mud off with warm water from a tap we put on the outside to wash the collies with. After we got him rinsed off good, we towel dried him, put the warm hair dryer on 'em and Gave him a warm bottle. The inside of his mouth was cold before we started working on him but after the works, he warmed up and a little later was nursing his mama . we took her to the barn and confined them together till he was ready to go back to the field. He did fine thank you squerly. :) There is something called a calf box that is like a heated doghouse for folks in such situations with cold winters. Also,
Thanks Keifer :) bordercollie

By the way ,the newly designed seats are not made for wet weather. You'll need a drying towel -the contours sure hold the water! bordercollie

Bordercollie, what's your plan for the air intake? Will you get the Kubota V4271 hi-rise or improvise with the original air box? I've looked, cussed and discussed and am thinking of going with the V4271. I looked at purchasing a Donaldson canister as suggested by Two Guns; however, the cost delta is not that great. I suspect the time and travel to purchase the piece parts will result in me wishing I'd just ordered the V4271 with delivery to my house. With that said, I'm still cinsidering either just raising the suction source high as many have done or getting the V4271.

Hey Pepr, I'm not sure how I over looked your question- sorry about that. I opened a new thread on making my own air intake for around $25. look for: high air intake bordercollie version or something like that. I just used a few fittings and a piece of HD farm hose like off a transfer tank. There are a lot of pictures on that thread. Its working great. It was so dusty until Lee dumped 7" that I had no choice. bordercollie

Bordercollie, first off congrat on receipt of rainfall. We were parched in westcentral Arkansas until the week of Aug 10 when we received 7.2 inches of rain. I believe I am going to go the ABS plastic method and plan to do so this weekend.

We got 5.19 inces by our electronic guages. But I think something on the guages are wrong, OR,
the ground just sucked up all of it really quick. For we could just about kick dirt less than 24 hours later.
Folks say we really got that much. I am thankful for that.
