my 2011 900 xt seems to have lost a little power with only 36 hours on the clock. im wondering if i should be concerned or should i wait till after 50 hour service to see if power returns before I call dealer. I have already removed the spark arrestor and it didnt help. my top speed is only 20mph and it has to be dead flat or it won't do that. any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new RTV.

I'd do the 50 hour service. That first set of tranny filters can clog quickly. This has happened to more then one new RTV...

I'd agree with Whats cooking on the the air cleaner. also the fuel filter -especially if it has been hesitating. And Zoom on the transmission filters/fluid. If theair/fuel filters check out, I would go ahead and change the trans oil/filters out if it were mine. My magnetic transmission plug was nasty and one of the filters had a piece of debris in one on the filter ports when I changed mine as recommended on my 2011 that I bought in August. I posted a picture on here of that . I would get it looked at if it is still acting up after doing these things . Do you have dusty conditions? If so you may want to consider improvising a high rise intake or buying one. There are threads on here about that too. bordercollie

I have not had dusty conditions since I bought the machine
However I have considered a high rise intake. This is my first
Rtv and not sure what to expect on top speed. I know it's
Supposed to do 25 but it just seems with mine it's not running
Up to its potential . Thanks for everyone's advice.

...... and something else to think about.

AIR PRESSURE

If you just have a few pounds less, that will effect your speed also. When I changed back to my summer tires ( OEM atv's ), I notice that was not running as fast. Tires been sitting up for awhile during the winter. Checked air pressure and they all were off. Air'ed 'em up, back in business !!!!!

I have over 200 hrs on my 2011 RTV900xt and while you can't spin out with it, it will go! I can put it in a deep , dry ditch and climb out in H from a dead stop- in 2wd. I can go 27 mph on a level road never faltering and speed doesn't fall much at all when climbing a rise type hill- not a mountain but a normal hill. My '05 was a different story, and would fall about 10 miles on this same hill. Does the engine sound louder when it is at the top speed and acting like this, or it is subdued acting like it is doing all it can? Please keep us informed on what you find out. bordercollie

I wonder if Kubota put summer air in his tires. Now that it's winter, they just won't run right. If winter air was put in, that may help. :) Just kidding.

Bczoom that's the first thing I did was remove the summer
Air and install winter air still didn't helP
Well, if that didn't fix it, I'd go for the 50-hour service.

Make sure you use Kubota's UDT (or Super UDT if you're in cold climates). Do not skimp on the hyd fluid. Many a tale of woes by people that went with cheap stuff and their performance got worse.

Quick simple check with a helper is to raise the bed and make sure you are getting full throttle travel. Could be a linkage problem or a stretched cable. Also check that park brake is fully releasing. A little cetane boost in the fuel will help if it is a fuel problem(after changing filter).

I don't have my manual right at hand for my 2011 900XT but I think Kubota has revised the 50 hour scheduled maintenance. If I remember correctly the OWNER'S MANUAL schedule no longer requires a transmission fluid change at 50 hours - just a filter change. However, the SHOP MANUAL says that both fluid and filters are to be changed. My dealer says that the OWNER'S MANUAL is correct.

@Electric - I'd call the dealer since you should be able to do at least 25 mph.
