If the key is turned onto accessories, it's likely running the meter up . Some cig lighter plugs only work if the key is on accessory.

I think it depends on the year. Older models seem to only to click hours when running. Newer ones would count when turned, it looks...

If not totally gone I put tubes in at that point. And get 4 or 5 more years out of the tires.
