    1020 tractor clutch issues

How much free travel is in the clutch pedal? Should have about 1 inch. If too much free travel, it may be preventing you from disengaging clutch properly. Try shortening the adjusting rod to get about 1 inch or a little less. If that does not help, the clutch or pressure plate may be defective...

    Reviews on this JD

3020 diesel was a very good tractor. Other than checking normal items such as condition of engine oil, transmission oil and coolant for contamination, etc, the only thing that comes to mind is the injection pump. Some of the later 3020's had a CB Roosamaster pump. Many parts for those pumps are...

    Hyd fluid

Fill plug is directly behind the seat. A plastic cap about 2 1/2 inches across. Screw it out and fill to correct mark on dipstick. Dipstick should be by your right heel as you sit in the seat. Depending on your serial number, could be a metal screw in dipstick, or a red plastic handle the pulls...

    2040 hydraulic issues

The six orings in housing can be installed in the incorrect grooves and cause overheating. Also there are shims in the valve bodies that can cause problems if the correct amount of shims aren't installed. Too many shims will make free travel in steering wheel movement and too few will cause...

JD 2040 (year 1980) rock arm (bushhog) stuck in up position

There is a rate of drop control under the front of the seat. Some models had a lever and some had a bolt head that needed a wrench. Make sure it didn't get turned full clockwise. That would prevent it going down. Have you tried moving the draft control lever as well as the height control? Draft...

    2040 hydraulic problems

Technically, there should be no flow through the valve when steering is not being used. That would mean no temperature increase at all. With all new seals and installed correctly(those lower couple of orings can be challenging to get into correct grooves) the only other thing would be leaking in...

    6110 with 620 loader

THe detent you feel to the right is for the regenerative circuit for dumping heavy loads. If you have a heavy load in the bucket, the weight tries to extend the cylinders faster than the hydraulic pump can keep up. The regenerative circuit helps alleviate that problem. For the float issue, It...

    1963 2010

There are several different versions of 2010's and different shifters. From your profile picture, I think I see you have the shifter on right side of dash. If so, then it could be adjustment or could also be worn pars in shift linkage. There are adjustable yokes on shift rods to shorten or...

The tach is mechanically driven with a cable. Try disconnecting the cable from the back of the tach and then start the engine. if inner cable spins, then the tach is bad. If it doesn't spin, then the cable is bad.

The distributor and coil are 6 volt. There is a resistor in the circuit that cuts back the voltage. THe carburetor adjustments aren't so cut and dried. It should idle about 600 rpm. You need to adjust the idle mixture screw so you get a nice smooth idle and the load screw needs to be rich...

    John Deere 4430

The cooler and angled piece both need to come off together. Then you can separate the tubes and replace orings.

JOHN DERRE 410 drives on front wheels only

SOunds like you have a problem in the differential or rear final drive. Have you tried to engage differential lock to see if rear wheels will drive? Also, is it a 410, or a 410a, b, c, or d or ...?

PTO issue John Deere 4120 stops under load

THe filter and screen could be a problem and is a good place to start. If other hydraulic functions are working OK, I doubt that will fix it though. Sounds like you have low pressure to the clutch or clutch could be worn. Low pressure can be caused by a bad solenoid, blown orings on solenoid...

    John Deere 4630 transmission

WHat is bad about the 4630 transmission? It should be able to be rebuilt although it can get very expensive.

    John Deere 4630 transmission

Unfortunately the 4630 is a larger framed tractor. The 4430 transmission will not bolt up and I don't think any of the gears inside are the same either.
