Here's a "Talk About Anything" - II

Hey @Doc, have you tried the Scythe herbicide yet?
I mixed about 8-9 oz in 3 gallons of water on my backpack sprayer and started hitting the weeds.
Came back for a refill to do other areas and looked where I sprayed... the weeds are pretty much dead and that's in less than an hour.
I love this stuff. :)
No, I haven't. I was going to ask what ratio you mix it at.
I have a 15 gallon atv sprayer on it's way to me. Once it quits raining and I have the sprayer I will be on it hot and heavy. Thanks.

I used a ratchet strap around the head of the PHD to the rafters while it was still attached to the tractor. Crank it tight then disconnect the PTO and 3PH. It hangs there perfectly aligned for me to back into it and reconnect the next time. ;) The floor space it uses isn't much more than a 5-gallon bucket.
Thanks Geohorn and Zoom. Good ideas. With storage really not much of an issue I might own a PHD yet. :D

3 oz per gallon will kill most weeds and grass.
Is your sprayer a boom, wand or both? If boom, be careful of wind drifting it as it does kill what it comes in contact with.

Wand type. 3 oz it is.
Lots of multi flora on my trail that I hope to zap, along with the weeds. Thanks guys.
Does it also kill trees and tree saplings?

The roses may need more than 3 oz but I'd say try it there and see how it looks in a week.

Hey Doc - I'm not sure yet but:
I used the backpack sprayer for 3 loads yesterday.
The first batch was mixed and sitting in the sprayer for a couple weeks. It didn't seem to have the same efficacy as a newly mixed batch. Maybe it's from sitting, maybe I didn't add as much Scythe?
I'll know better in a day.
Anyway, for now I'm going to suggest you don't mix more than you can use in a day.

Thanks for the tip. I was going to mix 15 gallons once my sprayer arrives. I'll scale that down to see how much I can use in an hour or two of spraying.

What I'm thinking is that the scythe may have separated from the water after sitting. When I sprayed, I got a great blast of the scythe at the beginning but then pretty much straight water afterwards. I'll agitate the tank well anytime I let it sit overnight or longer.

Or maybe I'll read the directions. :)

OK. I cleaned the tank hoses so I can spray again.
Talstar works really well. I sprayed around the house yesterday.
Standing outside today, I watched ants around the house. They would not cross the line of where I sprayed the Talstar.

My neighbor turned me onto Talstar back when we had the Asian Lady Beetle invasion back about 8 or 10 years ago. Stuff works wonders.

Nobody has posted in days. Did everyone run out of fuel and isn't running their machines?
I've not run a machine in days.
Thursday, I went out of state to visit relatives. Came back Saturday, mowed the lawn then went to bed to catch a red-eye flight to fly out Saturday night. Down in FL right now doing chores on our condo. FL rules and/or HOA rules say I have to hire a plumber to replace toilets. Grrrr. $180/hour. I've replaced many toilets in my day but never had a resident below me so as a CYA, I'll let a pro do it. If he's worth his salt, he can do a toilet in 45 minutes.
Hoping to get all my chores done (the honey-doo list) in short order so I can catch a casino cruise out of Canaveral later in the week. A half-day on the water, coupled with gambling will do me well.

Busy weekend. Family get together Saturday and Sunday, different sides of the family. Good weekend.
Today I finally mowed and swept the lawn. All good.
Hope to get some trail spraying done this week. Finally got the cig lighter plug I needed to put it all together. I'll be able to try out the everything killer Zoom was talking about.....as long as the rain holds off. It is in the forecast every day through the upcoming weekend. bla.

I was going to recommend a rust removal chemical I use but since you put what it really is in the picture name, I wouldn't recommend the chemical after all. ;)

My nephew and his wife went to Belgium to visit my niece and this is what I got as a gift. At first I said "Whhaaat . rusty wrenches? ".
Haha !! me too. I need to try them... meant to do that yesterday with the family here but forgot. Maybe tomorrow to test that Belgium chocolate. I smoked ribs and it was fun watching that 3 year old gnaw on a bone-actually 2 bones. All 3 kids gave them a workout.

Yesterday was a somber occasion to remember our lost Americans who gave their lives for us to be free. God bless them and their families.

Life has been happening. Wifes health has gone down hill, work is busy, the fields are growing and it won't quit raining enough to be able to do dirt work.

It's been wet here too . We have about 80 acres of winter grazing that should have been cut a month ago for hay. We had a fellow cut about 20 acres but then the rains started. Its laying on the ground and rotting. He baled about 20 bales Saturday but the moisture was too high so he quit. Fluffed part of it Sunday and then a little thunderstorm rolled in. Lasted for about 15 minutes and then quit it raining but done the deed. wet wet... Our farmer neighbor has yet to plant his cotton. Usually all done a month ago. His cotton picker makes round bales and cost well over 500,000. I think he said 650 but can't remember. Crazy weather and times.
