I took a test drive on a 1M.25 without the cab today. It is brutally cold today and the salesman earned his money today. I was impressed at how easy and fast it started up. But it had a flat front tire, so it took him a minute to get the air tank and charge it up with shop compressor but he got er done.
I am a farm boy and had some experience with the Ford 8N, IH 886 Turbo and a Case 2290, but that's when I was a kid. I am 62 now.
I probably shouldn't have test drove it, because I was impressed to say the least. Things that stood out for me :
Really liked the ability to go super slow with the bucket during all 4 functions. Really like the fact that you can adjust the rear cat 1 to drop at the speed you want, so as not to damage implement or whatever surface you are working on.
REALLY liked the 3 speed transmission and the ability to go super slow while at full throttle.
Really liked the turning radius.
Really liked the quick hitch in the front.
This tractor is massive overkill for my needs but here is my dilemma: was looking at a JD X739 lawn tractor with blade, blower, quick hitch, weights and bracket and a soft cab. The 1M.25 with cab with heat and a/c is not that much more money and it is an ACTUAL tractor. And the older we get, the less we like having to be out in the cold. And as people who experienced the Blizzard of 77', the ability to have the granny gear sounds very appealing when dealing with the "concrete snow". I would probably keep the bucket, get a snow pusher or blade and a 60" snowblower. Definitely overkill but my worries about snow would be over, even if we got another Blizzard of 77' type event.
Not sure if anyone on here has the cab version but I would like to hear from anyone who has a 1M.25 with the cab or without. Your feedback is most welcome.
Thanks, and yes this is my first post on here.
