This is what i do and works well for me.Clean your dipstick with scotch brite.Then with gun barrel blueing blue your dipstick up about a inch a couple times it will get darker each time wipe it off now when you ck oil look for the shiney black thats your level.JOE

fuel pump I did this mod a long time ago.It will fix what your talking about.I used a balklamp pump from napa rated for gas or diesel low pressure.Their are wires right behind the tank on the frame keyed on from switch.I mounted the pump on the frame with rubberized clamps and strap steel...

Black smoke Well from what I have read all good advice.I think the old Kubota got a load of gas.The pump is probably stuck that's why the adjustment screw don't work. I would think it has a advance also stuck in advanced state not sure about that though.That might be why its loud.JOE

Black smoke Injectors are probably not your problem unless it has a miss.You should check to make sure your return line going back to the tank is not plugged from the injectors.As far as the rack adjustment screw that screw will make a huge difference.Mine was lean from the factory just one...
