Low oil pressure at low revvs

Hi Folks, got a JD 455 with 23HP Yanmar 3 cyl diesel. I bought it with 900 hours on the clock, it now has about 1100. The low oil pressure light on the dash comes on at low revvs. As it warms up it needs more and more revvs to get the light to go out. I bought it with this fault and got a good...

    Slip clutch doesnt, help please

Thanks for the write up. I kinda followed your advice BC. Loosened it up and went mowing. Found a nice downed tree that I mulched up, hit a nice lump about 4" diameter and it was pretty evident the clutch broke free and started slipping. I found on the internet that I needed my springs to be 1"...

    Slip clutch doesnt, help please

Long story short, lots of stuff got sheared that shouldnt have. I have a slip clutch in the PTO shaft, but its pretty obvious that it isnt working. I'd guess its siezed up. I assume the easiest way to unsieze it is to loosen it off and go topping. But my question is how do I know how much to...

    First mow of the season

Heres another picture. It was steeeep! Had to split the brakes on a few parts to go where I wanted. Must get round to casting a font weight! It already has 100kg on there, but its a really short tractor.

Been mowing for over a month now, here's hoping for a good growing season! I would imagine I have 30 hours seat time mowing so far this year.

    Brush/forestry guarding

Hi Dave, looks like you have done a good job there. I understand the belly guard serves another purpose though (but we wont go there). They sure dont design tractors perfectly. My brake lines are quite 'loose' against the transmission. The hydraulic flilter also sits quite low. Looks like...

    Brush/forestry guarding

To be fair most of the countryside is relatively rolling. However, that doesnt stop people leaving stumps 18" tall in a field of 3' long weeds! The underside protection isnt as important as the cab stuff, just want to avoid hoses snagging etc. Protecting the glass in the cab is most important.

    Brush/forestry guarding

Hi Folks, any of you fitted brush guarding to the underside of your tractor? Also around the cab? Wondering about thicknesses of steel etc? Tractor is 60HP, weighs about 7000lbs. I'm paranoid about breaking something expensive, not to mention the possibility of losing the trans oil or...

    B7100 battery

Thanks Brian. Bust times, but I've got a few more problems with machines that I might need a hand with. Bob, it'd be great to meet you. You are welcome here or I can come meet you somewhere. I'll see if I can find an interesting machine for you to have a go with, ever driven a 45,000lb...

    B7100 battery

Thanks guys. Bob, got that number converted to the numbers we use and it fitted fine. Comes out as a 35Ah, I found one 45Ah the same dimensions so I got that.

    B7100 battery

Hi folks, long time no see. Does anyone know the size and power needed for a battery on a 7100? Got a different (dead) battery fitted at the mo, need to get the right one. No time to truck to the dealer. Thanks

    New problem...need advice...L2800

If it isn't the filters, you could have a leak, or the possibly the hydraulic pump is going. Maybe even the pump sucking air. Might just be the pump inlet screen clogged if it has one,.

    Toro Wheel Horse

Get the mechanic to do a compression check on the dead cylinder. If its got good compression then it'd be worth pursuing the problem further. I'd phone up the guy you bought it off and see if he will give you any information. It might be a completely new problem. It wouldnt be beyond possibility...

Explain the JD model series to me

I'm looking at midrange Deeres. I have read up on the 3050 and it appears to be the perfect tractor, I understand they are super reliable and a good tractor overall. However, it appears that everyone else knows that too as the 3x50s are really quite expensive. And to be honest, i dont really...

Ford 3000, Problem with 3 point

Do you have the right oil in the tractor? Most tractors have a screen on the suction side of the hydraulic pump. That might be clogged up. Some are accessible from the outside of the transmission, on some you may have to take the trans apart to get to the screen. Maybe you could get a mechanic...

Ford 3000, Problem with 3 point

So when you raise the 3ph with weight on it and turn the engine off it will descend to the ground in a couple of minutes even if you keep the lever in the 'up' position? It might be maybe a leaking lift ram or maybe a hydraulic valve problem. I dont think it would be electrical. I might be way...

    New project, splitter (working)

Splitter is complete, painted and everything (yeah, its only primer, but it'll do :D). Works peach. The table round the wedge is great too, I reckon it doubles the speed that I can work at. And no bending over. Especially with big logs you can keep all the parts on the table instead of them...
