Jerky motion and hard to put into gear

Oops, yep - it's a sealed tranny. Let's cross that off the list. I'd install a new belt next. It should be around $20 for the belt and not too difficult to install.

Jerky motion and hard to put into gear

Welcome to the forum. First - are you changing gears while moving? I don't think you're supposed to do that on your tractor and doing so can cause damage. I'd check the manual. Second - check to make sure you are not low on transmission fluid. Third - although the belt is there, it can be worn...

For those using Talstar - Don't let it sit (for me, over the winter). It'll clog your pipes (or in particular, your wand).

Do you have a shop nearby that can test it for you?

    Alternator issue

Are you SURE the new alternator is good? Hasn't happened to me but I've heard stories about replacement alternators not being right. Did you get it OEM from a dealer (which is your best chance of getting a new one) or an aftermarket? Got a link to that source? I'm struggling to think of...

    Alternator issue

Let's save the ECU for last since it's the most expensive part. Have you thoroughly inspected the wiring harness for exposed, grounded or burnt wires/connections?

    Ford 3400

Is that pic from the engine? The actual serial number plate is inside the hood panel, on the right side. What's in the UNIT part of the plate gives manufacturing date info. First digit is the year Second character is the month (e.g. A=Jan, B=Feb...) 3rd & 4th is the day of the month. Last char...

    Alternator issue

Did they say your symptoms may be caused by a fried ECU? OK, you said you checked the fuses. Any idea how many you checked? What I'm seeing on the electrical parts diagram is: 6 on the wiring harness (all of them are 60A) 3 on or near the instrument cluster 10A, 15A and 30A...

    mahindra max26 pto stops running.

Sounds like the PTO clutch isn't quite right and needs adjusting. Do you have the manual? It should show you how to align. If no manual, do an internet search to see how to align. I think this is common so a youtube video may show you how to get it right.

11.86vdc is way wrong. It should be around 14v. Is that with the battery connected? It does sound like the voltage regulator is shot.

    Alternator issue

Welcome to the forum. Connecting the battery backwards can cause any number of problems. Does the dash have a battery light? Is it on? On some machines, that light being on is actually an integral circuit and could cause things to not work properly. My initial thought is the voltage...

What I'm thinking is that the scythe may have separated from the water after sitting. When I sprayed, I got a great blast of the scythe at the beginning but then pretty much straight water afterwards. I'll agitate the tank well anytime I let it sit overnight or longer. Or maybe I'll read the...

How many miles do you have on your RTV?

My 2004 doesn't have an odometer. I have around 400 hours and drive slow so I'd guess I only have about 1200-1500 miles on it.

    Fit for purpose?

No way I could carry it full as it's 330 gallons. Full weight would be about 2600 pounds. I only fill to about 1000 pounds and at that weight the RTV struggles on hills.

Hey Doc - I'm not sure yet but: I used the backpack sprayer for 3 loads yesterday. The first batch was mixed and sitting in the sprayer for a couple weeks. It didn't seem to have the same efficacy as a newly mixed batch. Maybe it's from sitting, maybe I didn't add as much Scythe? I'll know...

    starting problems

Welcome to the forum. When I get these symptoms, pretty much every time, it's the battery cables themselves as they corrode internally. Also check their connections to the frame and starter. Try taking a set of jumper cables and run them in parallel to the battery cables or just replace the cables.

    Fit for purpose?

How many gallons does that water tank hold? Do you have the brand name? I use a tote but when driving, it sloshes around a lot so the RTV feels tipsy. Something lower would be much better.
