1100 High Air Intake

There are some Kubota RTV 1100 owners, that have the high rise air intake on their units. Notice that they have the " glass ( translucent plastic ) bubble " on top. How well do you like the bubble style. Does it seem to let enough air flow threw to the engine? Does it have a serious " sucking " sound ? Reason for asking, somebody the other day in conversation, stated that he feels like the bubble style filters on the 1100's should have been done like the 900, with a bigger canister style filter system other than the clear, smaller type as which comes in the kit ... He said his engine runs so much better since he fabricated his out of the big canister type, but still has it up high like it should be !!!!</P>


Any and all comments would be appreciated !!!!!</P>

I only know that MMOLNAR has one of those little canisters on his new 1100 kubota...........I don't know of anyone else.........</P>


I just had an idea and would like all of the members of the forum to give me their opinion.......What if I would take off the air intake and run schedule 35 plastic pipe like everyone has in their homes for their sink water and sewage...........Bring it out the side and put a 90 on it and run it up the side connect it to the back screen attatchment and put another 90 and put on the air filter.........I saw it done on this site with tail pipe extensions but thought that it was easier with schedule 35..............What are your opinions????????????? NickAmerica you are a retired engineer, what do you think..............</P>

Hey guys,

I haven't put enough hours on the 1100 to offer much help. I'll just say that everything seems normal with the engine: power, acceleration, etc. Can't hear any air going through the filter.

How 'bout it Two guns, are you gettin' an 1100?

I would imagine anything would work, just make sure your pipe in sealed good, and the cansiter is set proper. And fix it where your bed lift will work >>>> I've seen high air kits made from many different materials, from pvc pipe to muffler pipe, >>>> even seen one with a fully flex hose !!!</P>

Well, it has been so long since I've posted, I almost forgot how. Been a long winter around America. Got the 1100 out the first time in about two months, Friday evening to take Kay for a ride in the four inches of snow we were getting. Poor thing (the 1100) has just been neglected this winter and not anything been done to it, except to start it every once in a while to made sure the battery stays up.</P>


I have the high rise aircleaner piping on mine, only I put a Donaldson Turbo III precleaner on it rather than the bowl type that came with the high rise. This Turbo IIIis made for a two inch pipe which the high rise has, so it works fine. Most of my tractors are or have beenchanged over to the turbo type precleaner.Just a matter of personal preference for me-self cleaning, no bowl to clean out, andI have never had a turbo to quit turning. My only concern with the Kubota high rise piping is, it may get restricted where it narrows down to allow the bed to clear the cab. If that happens-once-I will put the piping you are talking about on mine. It has to be attached in such a way to not get in the way of the fuel cap. I looked at that first and didn't like the location of the piping and the fact it looked like it would stick out past the cab a little. I like the neatness of the Kubota piping, I will probably leave the filter can down below if I have to change mine and put the precleaner up high. Right now, I am planning on it with the Kubotahigh rise piping. Only have 40.2 hours on the 1100, it has been resting most of the winter.</P>


Donaldson Turbo precleaners have been around a long time and are used in many ag and industrial applications. I have the H002040 model on mine-about $35. I have a picture of it-way back on a post 11/24/07. </P>


I am anxious to get back to work on it, as I still have several thingsto babydoll it up.</P>

For the people that get the new 1100 with the new high rise filter on top of the cab and the filter cannister stays at the frame.......What happens when the cannister gets immersed in water???? Will the filters dry out or do you have to replace the filters.........I would think that it would be better to have the big cannister on top and out of the way, or in a more inconspictuous place so it doesnt get wet and in the way of the dump bed...........</P>

One of the reasons, and in my case, and the main reason ,for the high air intake is to keep it out of the water. The canister does no good down low. PERIOD !!! Second reason for our intake being up high, is for the dirt / dust factor that the RTV generates behind the cab. It forms a vortex behind the cab, on <FONT color=#ff0000>( both 900's </FONT><FONT color=#ff0000>& 1100's series )</FONT> of dirt / dust that will clogg up a filter very QUICKLY .... Trust me, I know this for a fact, I checked minein less than nine hours of ownership of this new unit, and I like to have passed out, and haven't even run in dusty conditions yet, hell, it was still Febuary !!!! So instantly, installed the high rise intake system. As you have seen in some pics posted, some owners, has moved the canister of the 1100's up high behind the cab...... </P>


If the canister in low, and the intake of air is coming from high behind cab. That's ok for dirt, dusty conditions, but for the water situations. NO, need to get that canister up in the air >>>>>. </P>


Mr.jbiglane has all of RTV 1100's with the canister in the air behind the cab. The 900's, high rise systems come ready to set the canister up in the air >>>>>></P>
