i went ahead and bought a new front axle i appriciate all of yalls help and info on trying to find a used one but i bit the bullet and got a new one.so after i got it put back together i went and turned the dogs loose saturday, after a few minutes i had to leave the corn feild and go out and hit the road and go down about a mile. had a few hills to go up and noticed that my speed dropped of alot when going up the hills on the two lane hwy.is this normal or do you think a hydrolic fluid change may help or is this normal?i bought new fluid and filters fri when i got the axle and have not changed it yet.also will all the oil come out of one hole or are there two seperate places to drain it?one more thing if it is two places to drain it how much does each reservoir hold?thanks

Hi SSR , have you checked the spark arrestor. It robs power quickly as it clogs up with soot fast. check for posts on spark arrestor.
On your fluid question. It is a 900 you have? If so,the hyd fluid comes out the one plug under the transmission . Make sure you have the bed up if it is hyd so you can refill the add hole with the 2.6 gallons +- of sudt. also get some for the front cases and the middle front when you change it too. They take several oz but the manual states exactly . bordercollie

Border Collie is right on as usual......MAKE SURE YOU USE SUDT or they are replacing it now with some other name.....Kubota stuff though............

You do know the trick about NOT flooring the throttle?......Uphill will always slow down; but then I back off just a tad and it maintains whatever speed I am pretty much at. When you throttle back just a bit you can hear the engine begin to work.........God bless........Dennis

I mean the knuckle case oil on each side of the front tires and the front axle case oil in between. I am bad at descriptions. I think you will use less than a gallon between those 3. Check your manual for the suggested change intervals. bordercollie

Shoot, don't even think about it. We have all been there and sometimes, I am still "there". You enjoy your machine. bordercollie

Hi Mark. According to the book, every 400 hrs . I use my machine a lot so I do, or did it a good bit on the '05. It is easy to do when the tires are off so I try to do that when I put on the summer tires. There was no moisture in mine when I changed but it was discolored. You will have best luck using a small, spouted measure because that little hole is a bear. I have also pre measured and used a squeezed bathroom cup. On the center one, get ya one of those small ,long funnels because I just raised the hood and accessed the filler hole below with that small but long nose funnel and it went nice and slick. bordercollie
