2012 RTV400ci grinding when shifting into gear problem solved

Don't know if this will help anyone here as it seems few if any members have this machine but I'll post it for what it's worth. Upon removal of the cvt clutches, clutch covers, and centrifugal clutch and cover to get to the engine sideplate to remove it to fix an engine problem, had a problem after reassembly of all of these items. The machine would grind badly when trying to shift into gear from a stop. When removing the centrifugal clutch cover, the one way bearing fell out and onto the floor. A few of the small barrel shaped parts popped out of the bearing cage and onto the floor. Picked them up and reassembled them into the cage and under the garter spring, Upon reassembly of the clutch, the clutch output shaft would not turn freely in the clockwise direction, as it was supposed to. After very close inspection under magnification, these small barrel shaped parts are direction specific. They are marked with a couple of very small hash marks showing which end is the leading edge/end. With only 4 out of about 25 of the these small "barrels" reversed, it basically locks the output shaft in both directions. Put all of them with the leading end in the same direction, and problem solved. A very small and easy to overlook condition that causes an unacceptable problem. I might add that if someone was having the same problem and suspected the one-way bearing without looking at it very closely, a new one-way bearing from Messicks is currently $120.
