900 vs 1100

I spent about 3 hours yesterday with a friend riding in his 900. We went places that set my mind to ease on weather the RTV will work on my property. The next question is will the 1100 perform as well as the 900. The heated cab with all its other features are the main draw for the 1100. Would you guys reccommend the 1100 over the 900.

Welcome to the forum John.

I have very little seat time in the 1100 but from what I've heard from owners is that the larger engine in the 1100 more than covers the extra weight, A/C... Basically, they say it does have more power to the tires than the 900. So, I'd say it'll perform at least as good as the 900.

OK, that said, you didn't mention the conditions on your property. The 1100 is about 500 pounds heavier. I don'thave any numbers or otherwise to back it up but suspect/guess it's a little more top heavy.

For me, if the 1100 and 900 were at the store and it was one or the other, I'd go with the 1100. The cab, heat, A/C... would come in awfully handy where I live.

I own a 150 acre farm in the sothern Tier of N.Y.State.It is approx. 40% hay field 40& woods (both are flat) and 20% side hill pasture. The prime use will be gathering wood and taking grandkids for rides. I like to go out before dusk with the grandson on one of my farm tractors and watch the deer feed. As the temperature changes to cold it will be less fun for the grandson that is why I'm attracted to the heated cab.

I live in the Albany area in New York. I have a RTV1100 and I can't say enough good things about this great machine. I use it for getting firewood and for taking the dogs for rides towatch the deer in the evening as well as general yard work. I love the a/c and heat in the cab.At first I thought I would rather have an open cab in the summer but actually you get used to the cool bug-free cab in a hurry. I almost never pop open the front windshield because it lets in dust etc. and I like to keep the cab clean. I also have a good quality stereo ansd speakers, with the quiet cab it is just a blast to be driving through the woods with the dogs and listening to the music. We haven't had any cold weather since I got the machine this June but I have been using the heat recently on the cool eveningsand it works fine. I don't need to tellyou just how cold it can get around here, and I can't stand the cold. For me having a heated cab is a must. Without heat I wouldn't use this machine for half the year.

Machine has plenty of power, power steering is effortless. If you want an enclosed cab, IMO there is no comparison to a bolt-on cab. This is one fine machine.
