Advice re RTV900 and rugged mountainous terrain

Man, I'm nearly sold after visiting my local dealer and reading the forum here, BUT I wanted to know whether this vehicle would be ideal for my application. I'd be using it at approximately 9000 to 9500 feet in very rugged mountainous terrain where we have cut in several ATV trails and horse trails. I'd also use it for old logging trails that cut through our property. AND, I'd use it for some work around the property such as hauling logs, rocks and other heavy items. We'd use it to transport gear to different parts of our property.

I've looked at the Ranger and the Rhino, but this thing blows me away. Do NOT need the speed just want to make sure it can handle the altitude and hauling up and down steep trails.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I run mine at 7500-8500' and love it. We haul fire wood, rocks, wood chips, and in the winter it is transportation to and from the cabin. The transmission is the best thing for very rugged trails, you can just crawl along up or down and not beat up the machine or yourself. A good thing to have is a hand throttle for when you an extra boost starting up a hill with a heavy load.

A hand throttle is certainly a must have item. Kubota should put them on as orginal equipment. I bought one (throttle kit) last winter and didn't put it on for a few more months. Then one day I did and now I love it.

................ ............ ............... when a throttle kit is installed, can it be installed where a operator / owner can use either the foot control or the hand control......

>>>> theones I've seen installed, they could only use the hand throttle kit !!!

Jamie,

It is installed so that the operating knob is just a bit above the differ lock knob. It make look diffcult to install but it is a walk in the park. I usually set mine for about 1/2 throttle.

.... don't know how they have them now on the 1100's.But a few months ago the throttle cable handle seton the 1100's were different than thethrottle kit you purchasefor the 900. Believe the same kit ( V4241 )will fit both the 900 & 1100 ....NOW, something I did notice was, that the throttle kit throttle handle has a push button style handle to lock it in any position need be, and the one that was on the 1100 on the showroom floor was different.

Think the one on the showroom floor, either it was wide open, or not at all >>>>>>>> where is the one that comes in the kit one could set the RPM's at any speed and it would hold ......

Have a RTV 900, so maybe a 1100 owner can tell us how the throttle cable actually works on that model.

I purchased a V4241 throttle kit for my RTV at the beginning of this year, never installed it, and I'll be damn if I cannot find the thing anywhere. Just hope and pray I didn't put it in a box that could have been throw away during one of them massive shop cleaning days >>>>>>>>>

It is the same as the one on the 1100. Thats standard on those now specificly because of these high altitude applications.
