Another newbie owner

Hi Folks,

I have been "lurking" on this great forum for a month or so trying to learn all I could about the RTV before making a purchase decision.

So despite the many quirks that I learned about the machine here, I finally made the decision to purchase a used 2005 900R camo model with 250 hrs on it. It appears to be in really good condition and was set up by the original owner for quail hunting here in Texas. Since the bird hunting has slowed down so much he decided to part with the machine and I got it to use on my deer hunting lease in West Texas.

It's equipped with the Kubota top, glass windshield, overhead console with a currently non-functioning Jensen CD/radio, front cargo over-hood rack plus a front hitch rack, camo cab enclosure, glove box, rear cargo light, lift kit with Swamp Witch tires, bed-mounted tool box and high-rise seat, gun racks, and sprayed in bed liner.

I bought it about two weeks ago and it went directly to the hunting camp but I only got to use it for one day before we lost a family member to early-onset Alzheimer's and had to leave it there. I just got it home last night and was able to get it into my garage (barely!) by letting the air out of the tires so the top and radio antenna would clear.

Now I will get started on replacing fluids (Yep, I know....SUPER UDT!), filters, etc. as well as removing/cleaning the spark arrestor and installing a high-rise air intake. I've already ordered a set of Peanut's boot guards and they should be here shortly. And I definitely need to get some type of side-mounted rear view mirrors installed since I can't see a darn thing out the rear with the high-rise seat and dust-covered rear cab enclosure in place!

I want to thank everyone for sharing your knowledge and experience in this medium with those of us who need it! :thankyou2:

Now how the heck do I post pics of my new toy on here? I have some on my iPhone and know that I will have to get them into my computer first. Can I just do a copy/paste to insert them when I'm ready?

Welcome Cajunrotor . I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
I put my pictures on my computer.. Use the grey reply button to post with.( there are options for smilies and pictures with it's use).then when I finish my message, hit the advanced button below the post I am making, and browse the pictures till I find the ones I like and then hit the upload button. You can still post pictures with the quick reply button - no smilies there to click on though..
I hope you enjoy your RTV. Be sure to check out the sticky at the beginning of the forum. bordercollie

Thanks bordercollie, cajunrotor isn't the only one that just learned how to post pictures. As soon as I can get some off my camera I'll give it a try myself.

I appreciate the nice welcome messages. Thanks.

I'll give Bordercollie's advice on inserting pictures a try. Could someone let me know if you can see them OK?

Welcome to the RTV forum. Lots of good folks in here willing to help with RTV issues. These machines are great workers but are on the complicated side (IMO) in keeping them finely tuned. Your machine looks like it has lots of potential for fun and work. Keep coming back and join our "family" of well wishers, goof balls and mechanical wizards.

Welcome

You have a really nice low hour machine. My 04 had 800 hours on it when I bought it last year and the dealer I got it from said it would probably be broken in shortly. A lot of members have machines with thousands of hours on them still working hard.

As part of the sale my dealer went through the machine and replaced one u-joint and did a complete service. I've put about 100 hrs on it mostly plowing snow and moving downed trees. It runs great, I did replace the Alternator that bit the dust last fall but that's it.

Enjoy yours, Bob

The hell with the RTV's! Let's eat that cow! If the cow can't be on the menu, how about that giraffe behind it on the right in the distance? I want the neck to gnaw on just like I do when we cook a turkey. ;)

Good pics. Where'd you get that carrier on the far front? Looks pretty handy. Does it plug into the front hitch?

Wondering about that rack myself...

Was looking at doing something similar years ago but scratched the idea.
Was going to take a trailer tongue box something like what's pictured below and make a frame or set of hooks so it hung off the grill guard. Could store stuff in it but pops right off when you don't want it.

Cajunrotor's "Beast" Front Carrier rack

Yes, it plugs into the front receiver on the 'bota. I'll get a picture of it in a bit. I'm not sure, but the mfg'r decal might still be on it for reference. I'll try to get a clear shot of that if it's there.
