another used option but I have questions

Hello Everyone:

I stopped by my local dealer to pick up some fuel conditioner for my tractor... and was talking to my salesman again.. They just got a used one in that morning. It is the owners mothers machine. It has never been off the lawn.. it has 53 hour on it. It is obvious the bed has been used. but otherwise it is in very good shape. They say it is two years old. I know these don't have model years.

It does not have the pressure dump for shifting... Is that a concern?

what other things aspects is there to worry about? I know the first models had some bugs. This does not seem to be a first model it does have the seat tether.. better padded seat, improved tailgate latches.

It does have turf tires on it... but that will give me the excuse for after market pretty wheels and tires. I asked my sales person about the kubota tires and even he suggested after market.

Much of my trails are in real good shape..I regularly mow them.. so a smoother tire might be ok.

This one has no options and they are asking $8,900. for here that sounds pretty good. oh it has had the 50 hour service.

thanks

OK, to find out what model year it is.
The VIN (on the bed, right over the battery) will be something like KRTV900A41012345
The underlined "4" in my example is the model year. They should be able to give you the VIN over the phone. We can also confirm the year using the last 5 digits.

I wouldn't worry about the pressure dump. It may be a bit tight due to the low hours but it'll loosen up if it is tight. We also have some "tricks" to get you through a new machine if it's hard shifting.

Does it have the hyd. dump for the bed? Trying to figure out if it's the Turf, General Purpose or Worksite model.

If no front grill and/or no hyd dump, it's probably a GP.
If no speedometer, it's probably a worksite.

One thing to watch/remember. The Turf model tires are 25x12x12. All other models are 25x10x12. If you're going to change tires, most setups are for 25x10x12 so new rims may be required.

thank you

it does have the front grill and the hydralic dump. I was thinking wheels and tires although I have no idea what that will cost me.

Hi Glenn!!! That sounds very promising!!!!!!! This sounds like mine as I have the seat tether .I bought mine in Feb 05 and my serial # is 305##. I personally don't need the pressure dump. I turn/rock the steering wheel , pump the brake or do the Y With the shift lever to finish out the H pattern and it will slip in gear just fine. Of course, we don't have real hills here but this works great for me on levees. At first I was worried, then this machine came to be something I depended on and itearned my respect. I would drive it anywhere now . But and that is a big but ,You have to have the good tires That is a quick way to hate the machine--- getting stuck all the time like me when I tried to make the worksites do. I ordered mine and got a great price plus free shipping.. if you need the # let me know. Does it have the bumper and hyd dump bed.? It was standard on mine.Check out the shaft for rattle. This is not a big deal and maybe they would update it for you.I also have the plastic roof, bedliner and lites. Also make sure the fuel cap is easy to get on/off and does't leak. Check the seat for cracks, Mine crackedbig time and was replaced under warranty.[I only weigh 120 it wasn't abused by the pups] I have no idea what a cab costs nor heater. Good luck This price ,in my humble opinion is good. Bordercollie[&][&]

Hi bordercollie:

Yes it does have the front guard and the dump bed. I had forgotten about the fuel cap. oh well. This machine was owned by the parents ofthe dealerships owner. So I am sure if there were ever any problems with it... they were addressed as they happened.

The only real downside is the tires.. I am not sure what I would want to go with. I have read and re-read almost all of this forum. I like the sound of the tires bczoom uses [maxis bighors]but did not want to have to install the lift kits. and I worry about the 589's tearing up the lawn and my trails...

oh by the way I did buy it.... It is not home yet but I am now the owner of an RTV : )

This is wonderful news!!!! A fine machine that will give you a lot of pleasure and a nice price too. I posted info on where I got my good tire price on your other post. I like the freedom an open cab gives. Having no doors is nice for me and I think you may like the fast in and out. and you are use to the cold from the Toro anyway. Have a Happy Day !!![:D]Bordercollie[&]
