Outside the house, I like Ortho Home Defense.
Inside the house (e.g. on basement sill plate), I like 20-Mule Team laundry enhancer. It's boric acid. When bugs walk on it, it burns their feet so they lick their feet. Licking the boric acid kills them. It's not toxic to anything larger than a mouse. I shake out a bead about 1/4" thick and 2" wide.
