Black smoke on startup

X1140. Should there be a puff of black smoke every start.

My 2019 x1100c does and has since new.

My 2020 does it. I even tried cleaning the spark arrestor thinking it might be dirty.

2016 X1120..puff on every start since brand new. BX2230 does exactly same thing.

duh, it's a diesel, black smoke is unburnt fuel, it's just bringing the combustion chamber up to operating temperature. Then your good to go!
