Obviously, fluid film shouldn't be used on pasture gates or anywhere animals can lick it. I have enough vet bills now with the horses.

Correct me if I'm wrong but as I recall, it's harmless to animals.

Thanks Popo, the pictures really help! Did you paint the heater before you installed it? Can you get paint on the element that is in the block?

I painted it prior to install & taped off the element first. I would think that paint on the element would flake off in the coolant - the small amount probably wouldn't cause any problems. But, I'd tape it anyway - don't forget to remove the tape before the install (lol).
