Brakes

I have researched these threads and have found no definitive answers, so here goes.

Has anyone experienced your brake pedal going to the floorboard on the first stroke? Then on the next stroke you have brakes. Like I said I have searched and I see a couple of mentions but no one seems to have come up with the reason for this.

I have bled the brake lines, it is not air in the lines. The parking brakes are fine if you pull the handle, so it must be either the Front brakes or the Master cylinder,RIGHT?????

I am open to suggestions,Help.

My 05 manual calls for DOT3 brake fluid i. I have never had this problem thankfully
.But just in case this might help ...
Did you use the procedure in the manual for bleeding the brakes? I will try to post some manual information- moderators please remove if this is a problem.. bordercollie

sounds like you have a by passing master cylinder. They will intermittantly by pass. replace the master cylinder to fix the problem.

My 900 would do this and it turned out that the right front brake was hanging shut or part of the way shut. It finally started dragging to the point of excessive heat, had to rebuild the hub.
 
Applying the KISS principle. I think you need to adjust the brake linkage on the rear brakes. If you haven't done that in several hundred hours that's probably your problem. It's taking all of your master cylinder stroke to compensate for the rear linkage being out of adjustment. Check it out and let us know.

Edit: Should have mentioned. If your peddle is "spungy", that's air. If your pedal goes to the floor and then has good braking on subsequent strokes of the pedal, it's adjustment. This is why automobiles are migrating to disc brakes. No adjustment required.
