Broken Bracket Needs Weld Repair

Hey Guys.....Just got home from a road trip..........Went out to the barn with my wife, the real owner, and she noticed that from the rear, the hydraulic fluid tank was sitting lopsided. Upon looking further, there is a bracket welded to the tube framing that was sheared clean as a whistle right at the weld.......Hmmmmmmmm.....anyone else have this problem.........

It will be a simple fix, I hope........Unbolt the tank, take off the 2 hoses...........weld........primer......and then put it back together...................

If I have to drain the tank, I may as well replace the fluid with the super stuff that you guys recommend so highly..............what else do I have to drain?..........Is there just one filter.....?

Thanks Guys.........Dennis

Was it a bad weld?

I think you nailed it with this statement:
"It will be a simple fix, I hope........Unbolt the tank, take off the 2
hoses...........weld........primer......and then put it back
together.........."

D&D FARM, I'm not sure how many hours you have on your RTV or if the hydraulic fluid has been changed but it should have had Super UDT fluid in it from the factory. jdh1

It was either a very cold weld that didnt hold or else it sheared right at the weld.........will tell more when I get it disassembled tomorrow...........

I got this unit at 100 hours. The PO had died and supposedly quoteing the dealer had just bought all the stuff to do the 100 hour and then died. The fluids were super clean so I believe he did that...........

What I need to know, as I have not done a change yet, 150 hours, is if I end up draining the tank, what else do I need to drain and filters changed?....................Yes, I have an owners manual on how to do this; but I thought some advice here would be helpful. How much fluid? Filters?

If the PO didnt put in the Super fluid, I guess I need to drain everything from that system and replace with super this time........................SOOOOOO........do I just drain the tank change what filter and replace with how much fluid...........thanks Guys.........Dennis

Don't remember the amount of Super fluid the dealer put in during my first 50 hrs service. Price difference between the regular & super, isn't enough to talk about !!!

But, please go with the OEM Kubota filters, they do make a difference.....

Take a look at this thread ~~~~[:O]

OK, I haven't had enough coffee this morning so my brain isn't at 100% but...

That tank is for the hyd dump bed. I don't believe there's a filter at least there's not one on mine. The 2 filters on the tranny are for the tranny itself (yellow is HST, orange is Suction) and not related to the dump bed.

The fluid capacity is 2.1 gallons (of Super UDT). The first scheduled change of this fluid is 200 hours so if you change it now, I'd cross it off your list for the 200 hour service. It's been awhile but if I recall correctly, the 2004 models didn't come with a dipstick built into the filler cap but I think the newer models do have one.

You basically drain the tank, put the drain plug back in and then re-fill.

Yep, just thought I'd throw that in ~~~~~~ while he was that close to the engine ~~~ ~ [:O]

OK fellers....................pulled and welded and fixed...........thanks for the information and trouble to answer my questions.....................this morning I did the repairs.......consulted my owners manual before touching it or reading YOUR replies................figured out that I do not have aux hydro tank and the filters are on the transmission..................was able to just pull the tank back out of the way and remove the brackets and broken tab just fine............

The tab which welds to the tank is about 2 inches long with holes in it for the tank bracket to bolt up to.............the metal itself was broken about an eighth of an inch out from the weld............the robot must have been set hot that day and when it welded must have weakened the metal?????

Anyway......its taken care of so on to bigger and better things like wiring the lights that Santy brought my wife for "her" RTV.................

Brian..........got the PM and I appreciate your kind words and assurance that the BB is gonna meet my needs and MAINLY the quality seems to be there..........God Bless.........Dennis
