Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware: Anyone in the market for LED lights and plans to purchase them on the open Internet market need to verify the authenticity of the 'business' or individual involved. If you need additional information send me a PM.

Of course Caveat Emptor applies to all purchases and transactions.

Uh oh. I hope you didn't get scammed. If you paid by credit card, they'll normally credit the transaction and go after whomever it was.

Thats pretty much a given rule.If scammed I always post the scammer to let others know to keep away from them. There a ton of Chinese knockoffs floating around and a lot of people more than willing to sell you junk or non working products.

I am still in the middle of a nasty situation involving an online purchase. As the details continue to unravel, it seems as though the professional looking website I was dealing through is nothing more than a P.O. box. While that in itself is not a problem, seemingly not having the advertised merchandise is a problem. Grrrrr! The credit card company has been very very helpful to this point..

Ya know, having chatted with a number of members of the Forum and everyone being so gracious and helpful to anyone who asks for info, it just makes you want to believe that everyone in this great country is of an equal caliber. But guess what Gracie, it ain't so.

I'll post new info as the saga continues.

Update:

After several attempts I finally tracked down a legitimate phone number and had some heart-to-heart conversation with the owner/operator of Internet "business" where I had placed an order. The focus of the conversation was if I didn't receive a refund or the items I had ordered ASAP, there was going to be some serious azz kicking coming his way. Long story short--- I got what I ordered (mostly), overnight special delivery.

To sum it up: The company personnel I was dealing with was less than polite or professional. I thought the entire transaction experience was going to be a lesson learned in the 'school of hard knocks'. But in the end, by some small miracle, it worked out. The credit card company folks I was dealing with were exceptional. They were polite, professional and lived up to their Golden Rule policy. I lalso earned you can't be too careful when using the Internet.

End of Story!

Keifer,

I'm a bit surprised with your CC company. I agree they're normally wonderful to work with when you hit this snag. What surprises me is that once you turn it over to them, they let you continue to pursue it with the company on your own. IIRC, my CC company said they'll take it from here and I shouldn't be contacting the company myself.

Hey zoom.,

I had trouble 1 1/2 yr ago myself. They hit my debit card , FROM THE
FREAKING BANK ..... FROM THE BANK !!!!! The damn bank security
let hackers hit over 200 debit numbers from it's computers.

Had done much myself to get to the bottom of this.
And the crazy thing about all this. They ( the card people, VISA ) would
not persure this. They returned all the money, in about nine working days.
But, after I found out who done this, where it came from, and who recieved the goods. They done NOTHING TO THEM. NOTHING !!!!
Found out, that they would rather just pay us, the card holders off. For it woudld cost more in fees to procecute the people who stole.

The people who got the numbers where on the west coast. I got names, address', the whole thing.
The people who recieved the goods, where on the east coast. Had a man who I know, has work in the town that the goods went to. He later drove to the place and address' when he got in that town. Told me it was like a getto, slum. People from another country, ( we will call them Sand Indians, OK ) lived there. Nasty,
so bad, he just turned it around and call me later.

I was so pissed-off >>>>

Yes, I got my money back. Everybody at the bank, got it back.
But it bad when it pays to do steal like that.
The thieves, come out on top.

I still believe in old time Justice !!!!!

Had a problem years ago on ebay. After a few months of getting jerked around by them I got in contact with the local police chief where the guy lived. He gladly went and paid him a visit and my stuff shipped the next day. Just something to keep in mind when companies screw you around.

Great Idea !!!!

I'm about to spend a little more time on the phone with Direct TV. They told us if we would switch from Dish to Direct TV they would pay the cancellation fee. Guess what? Figure I'll give 'em one more chance, then call the BBB, for what good that will do.

If you paid them with a credit card, get your credit card company involved. They can usually get much better results than you or I can individually.

They will probably repay the cancellation fee by a credit on your DirecTV bill, spread out over six months to a year - after you have been a subscriber for 6 to 12 months. Typical small print on these "special offers".

I think as Two Guns said, the credit card companies would rather just offer to "pay back" the credit card holder and call it a day. The card company offered to start a
"Conflict Resolution Proceeding" if I wanted to. But, I really think they wanted to just put the offending business on a 'Do Not Use' list and not start any legal (puplic - Bad Press ) proceedings. The credit card company never said for me not to do anything on my own. Anyway, story over.
