Pepr, This is a little information on how to test the temperature sensor out of my manual.
.....
1. disconnect the lead from coolant temperature sensor after turning key off.
2. Turn the key on and measure voltage with a voltmeter across the lead terminal and the chassis.
If the voltage differs from the battery voltage, the wiring harness, fuse or coolant temperature gauge is faulty.
Sensor Continuity
1. measure the resistances with an ohmmeter across the sensor terminal and the chassis.
2. If the reference value is not indicated, then the sensor is faulty.
16.1^ at 240 F
27.4^ at 212 F
51.9^ at 176 F
153.9^ at 122F I used the ^ for the ohms sign.
There is a test for the gauge as well if needed. bordercollie

Please report the test for the gauge. And many thanks for reporting how to test the sensor. I gotta get one of those manuals.

I used the instructions provided by Bordercollie to test the temperature sensors (thermocouples). The head sensor indicated resistance, but nothing close to the values provided by Bordercollie for a properly operating sensor. I performed the same resistance checks on the water T sensor. This one indicated an open circuit. I also checked the radiator water temperature to be 190F, this was shortly after a 5 to 10 minute ride at full speed, no load.

Oddly enough, the electric fan has operated in the past, yet the water T sensor indicated open circuit.

So I called my dealer, stated my test results, and he committed to shipping new sensors to me.

Oh, by the way, I still have not received the hydraulic oil reservoir cap, although he stated that I should receive it today.

I'll keep you informed.
