Looks like the bear has found my newdeer stand.

He just detroyed a feeder full of suppliment & corn. And to top it off, healso includedone of our new Cuddeback cameras.

For years, could not figure out why a bear woulddestroy something that didn't have food in it .Then, after talking tosome bear specialist . They said they smell " me " on the camera !!!! Bear will play, bite, destroy anything that has a different scent that doesn't smell natural >>>>

I told them, I glad to know that the bears think I stink !!!!

Now, all I have to do now is wonder if he is going to tear into the new stand sitting just a few yards behind it !!!!

He looks good sized! best not make him mad. just keep feeding him and he will be happy. I have often wondered if they hibernate down south like they do up here.

Wonder no more >>>> these down here don't>>>or should I say, I see these damn things all year long while hunting in the winter, working in the woods in the summer. So my bet is, bear don't hibernate inthe Louisiana swamps like they will upnorth >>>

it's a good question all the animals hibernate south but the ones that are already in the deep south have knowhere to go cause they already here. they could take a boat to the islands or cuba.

hey coonass, your thinking of migrate, that is where it moves from one country or region & settle in another !!!!

Hibernate is a state of inactivity, characterized by lower body temperature, slower breathing, and lower metabolic rate. Hibernating animals conserve energy, especially during winter when food is short, tapping energy reserves, body fat,at a slow rate. Something like a coonass coma !!!!

You should tellfolks the bear attacked your camera not because you stink but it is your sweet honey smell. You should not give folks the impression that you are a cranhy old man that smells.

Two Guns, Do you mount your cameras in any type of "Security Box"? I have made boxes for my cameras using old electrical meter boxes. Most electricians have a pile of them for free. The meter opening is just about perfect with very little modification. I put a piece of flat bar on a hinge to mount the camera inside. Weld a couple of pieces of angle iron on the back for securing to the tree. Much cheaper and stronger than the commercial boxes available. Oh, drill holes for 3/8" bolts and weld the nut to the angle. You then have an adjustment for vertical and horizontal. Add chain and lock for the two legged varmints. Captain

Yes, I have some in security boxes. The boxes are really nice, and do help VERY much. But I'velost three cameras with them in boxes. They just tore the boxes off the tree, and the whole thing came up missing, camera, box and all. Believe they are somewhere in the woods, but where, I don't know. , we've looked much. Twolast year, one this year. We've lag bolted them into the trees, andthey just tear / rip 'em off. ( light metal, bolts just pulled threw )These were commercial boxes, suppost to be " bear proof " . Might be bear proof, if youcan find them.

But I do like your idea of the electrical meter boxes. Haven't thought much about that !!!! Going to have to give it a try !!! They are heavier boxes than the commercial" others " ....

Thanks for the suggestion, for I'm going to give it a try.
