Wow, Knowing the enemy and knowing what needs to be done ...and doing it.! I have a minor in history and had never heard this. So much history is covered up Some I am sure will be buried forever unless uncovered by and made known by good folks such as you...Thanks for revealing it . Bordercollie </p>

Thanks, Milkman, for the Snopes background. I really appreciate Snopes and the research they provide around subjects that circulate on the internet. And my limited knowledge of the Philippine campaign suggested that the reality must have been more nuanced.</p>

Oh, I don't know... Snopes and Wikipedia are starting to get exposed for incorrect information, especially on anything related to history and politics. They have an extreme bias. Do a google search for something like snopes accuracy. You'll see lots of info on how inaccurate snopes really is.</p>


Still a great story.</p>
