disc cultivator

I would like to buy a disc cultivator to tow behind my RTV 1100. There are so many on the market I can't decide which one I want. When I read the reviews I become even more confused: X falls apart after a couple of hours; Y is too light and just bounces on the ground without cutting into it; Z is too heavy...
I don't have a hydraulic system on my Kubota to raise or lower the cultivator, so I'll have to use one that hitches on the ball (no three-point hitch) and that is raised and lowered manually with a crank. I also would have to tow it two miles one wayon a paved highway to plow my food plot. Any advice? Thank you.

Do you have hydraulic lift for the bed? If so, Hitchworks and maybe others make a 3-point setup you can install to attach a cultivator. I don't know how well they work.

I believe it was forum member TwoGuns who has (or had) this setup. I don't remember who makes it. I believe he said he liked it but not much was said about it over time. Personally, this setup scares me in my area. We have a lot of large rocks and I'd be afraid of snagging one and ripping the hitch right off the RTV.

My ole 900 has quick couplers on the bed lift so other hydraulic attachments can be used. Is that not possible on your machine??

If you are using a gravity disc it will need to be adjustable as to angle. I have an old 8' pull type tandem disc that I use occasionally. Works great.

I thank you all. Yes, I could connect the cultivator to the bed hydraulics, if I got the kit. I'm sure the Kubota dealer has one and can install it. Me, I have trouble replacing windshield wiper blades on my truck, and changing a faucet washer is too daunting for me to attempt. I'll let the dealer do it if I go that route...

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I see nothing wrong with uncoupling the bed cylinder and using the existing controller to run the disc. That's surely how I would do it. Not sure my RTV will pull my 12ft hydraulic wheel disc though!!! :)

Is your disc an 8ft?

Thanks for posting the pics.

I've used my dump bed hydraulics for my weed wiper height adjustment for years. I did add a cooler to keep the temperature of the oil down. I had zero problems. I think the thread where I added the cooler is called"oil cooler added" or something like that. I also bought the parker disconnects off of ebay reasonable. I just let the pressure off and they insert easily. bordercollie

Mine is an 8 ft. I am sure your rtv will pull your wheel disk. You might have to keep the wheels all the way down though lol. I usually use a tractor and an off set bog for my food plots, dove fields but I have a couple small spots with tight entry spots that rtv worked out great for.
