Driveline Rattle

Well, back to the dealer again. This time for the final fix and replacement yokes. The mechanic said he is also going to put in a side set bolt in the yoke to put tension on the shaft. (I think this is the "real" fix). Also they are going to replace the fogging gauges for the third time and I'm going back to the old style trans. shifter. I hope this is the last trip.

Well............
I got my RTV back yesterday having changed the driveshaft and new speed control. So far rattles are gone and the machine stops very abruptly. It's going to take some time to get used to.
The main problem I have is with the speed control change. Now when accelerating from a stopped position it feels like the emergency brake is partially engaged. I don't know if they didn't adjust the linkage properly or if this is just one of the changes I have to live with. It's like more power is needed to get it rolling. I've also lost about 3 mph as I've heard someone earlier stated. Any help with the linkage adjustment would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear the rattles are gone. Your experience with the new speed control seems right to me, like a tractor hydro if you stomp on an undampered pedal its possible to strain the engine. It might be interesting to play with some of the adjustments on the pedal. Thats not somthing that I have experience with or have read about anyone else experimenting with.

I guess I could block up the rear and adjust the linkage until the wheels barely stop moving. Does anyone know if this is the proper proceedure?

Well, I got mine back from the dealer and no rattles - for one day, then the rattles returned. Seems worse now than before. Go figure. What now? I give up.

Wait... I know its hard but all the service bulltins I have seen talk about along termfix thats in the works.
