Fit for purpose?

Hi folks with fire season upon us, we have started using our RTV X for the primary reason for which we bought it. Fire management and fire control.

Not to say we haven’t been using the RTVX every day for other chores, hauling soil or dumping rocks…It has performed admirably for all of those.

With respect fires our initial report is also favourable. Despite earlier concerns, the RTVX carries half a tonne of water, plus pump plus hoses and other equipment plus two crew with no problem. I don’t even notice the suspension settle much.

We love how simple entry and exit is compared the truck we used previously. The RTVX is a big win. Now we’ve tested it for it’s primary purpose, we couldn’t be happier.

Cheers

How many gallons does that water tank hold? Do you have the brand name?
I use a tote but when driving, it sloshes around a lot so the RTV feels tipsy. Something lower would be much better.

Hi Baczoom.

Isnt that cube a tonne of water? Do you carry it full? 😱

Our tank holds 132 gallons. It is just a generic brand moulded by a local manufacturer for use in utility vehicles. I have seen several similar designs, and yes it keeps the load nice and low.

Cheers

No way I could carry it full as it's 330 gallons. Full weight would be about 2600 pounds. I only fill to about 1000 pounds and at that weight the RTV struggles on hills.
