front drive shaft

Hi,
Another observation on my 900rtv. The front drive shaft where it comes out of the front of the transmission the spline shaft on the front of the u-joints seems to have some play along with the spline shaft going into the front pumpkin. the u_joints and the sealed bearing in the middle seem to be fine.

Any thoughts on the splined shaft play. The back one can't believe there is no locking pins, but maybe it needs to float.

Blinko, I did this cornejo rattle procedure posted by Muleman. I think you will have a little slack where the splines meet because one is steel and the other is cast . Or that was what I understood. I have been thru several shafts/ ujoints pre cornejo , The procedure helped a lot ... 3336 hrs. Bordercollie

I also stopped my drive shaft rattle using this method 2 years ago & it has been working great for me.
