Fuel Gague Sender leaking

I have 2 2006 RTV 900's and the tanks on both had to be replaced due to leaky caps. Now I'm getting some fuel leaking from from around the fuel gague sender that sits on top of the fuel tank. I've replaced the o-ring but the darn thing still leaks. The kubota dealer told me to put some type of diesel proof gasket sealer on it.He was not able to tell me who makes this sealant and I've done some asking around and can't seem to find anything. Does anybody have any sugestions?

Please confirm but I'm pretty sure silicone sealant isn't affected by diesel.

I believe there's a lot of plumbers putty and sealants that aren't affected by diesel either.

Know a good plumber?

You are right, silicone sealant isn't affected by diesel ! But there would be only one silicone sealant to use. That GE brand, and make sure it is the CLEAR type. I use this in my sign business also, just about everyday, and clear will hold where the white does not perform and will not last as long. Don't get the Red Devil brand either, it is not worth **** . GE brand, Clear, is the only thing I would use on any application. Go ahead and purchase a big tube, like goes into a chalking gun, cost is about 4.00, you get so much more in that tube for your money, small squezze tubes, about the size of toothpaste tube, will cost you about the same, so go ahead a get the big tube. Wal-Mart & most of your hardware stores sell it. Just a extra note, before you apply any type of sealant to anything, clean the area REALLY good, several times with denatured alcohol, that way the sealant will stick to base instead of the gook or unseen film ~~~~~~~~~~

thanks for your input but I ended up taking the RTV back to the dealer where I purchased it and they said that I had gotten a trashed tank. Apparently the tank had cracked at a seam so Kubota is sending a rep down from Atlanta to photograph the problem.I also found out that I was no longer under warranty. But they are replacing the tank for the 3rd time at not cost to me.
