Fuel Gauge Reads High

The fuel gauge on my RTV900 reads high. It shows full when it is down quite a bit and then all the rest of the readings show much more in the tank than actually is there. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

I believe this is a common characteristic, based on what I was able to find. I replaced a bad fuel gauge on my RTV900 and it won't show any movement for some time. I think it has to do with the odd shape of the tank.
