Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new to you RTV.
I too have an 04 RTV. My temp gauge works but doesn't even give a reading unless you've been running it hard and hot for quite awhile. If you're just driving around doing light work, it probably won't give you a reading.
On the fuel gauge, I'd start with checking the fuse, connections... Does the backlight come on when you turn on your headlights? Mine quit working last year. Then, about 6 months later it started working again. What I did during that period is use the hour meter as my gauge. Every time the hour meter rolled to an even 10 hours (e.g. 810, 820, 830...), I would top off the tank.
