Geese Headed North & Daffodills Poppin

Two: have the Purple Martins returned to Concordia Parish yet? I got my Martin houses (ABS gourds) all cleaned out a coupla weeks ago and ran the housing rigs back up the poles. I'm ready when the Martins are, but they haven't dropped in yet. Weather permitting, we have breakfast and most of the mornings on the back porch; we keep waiting to hear those familiar chirping sounds, but so far ... all the other birds, but no Martins. Any day now up here in The Cradle of Western Civilization: Lafayette County, Miss.

Yes !!!!!

But we did Purple Martins showing up Sunday, the 16th......

(posted 2-19-14 , post #4) easy to overlook, I am constantly doing it.....

Don't give up, They will be there !!!! We watch some swirling this evening . :tiphat:
............. two guns

After a day of flying around, the Navy hangs its planes out to dry.

That bird is a TF9 from VT 25, a Naval Aviation training squadron. The ship is USS LEXINGTON, in May 1966. Landing mishap. Note that instructor and student stayed with their bird ... ejection seats have not been fired.

All I can think of now is :

DAMN !!!!!

The next scheduled arrival is the hummingbirds on April 1........rings true for the last 5 or 6 years that I have noticed them doing that.

Before that, the carpenter bees start flying around my overhang and the eaves of the gazebo. Of course they go after the lumber in the pole barns and sheds..........For the last couple of years I have been using traps a fella sells and a "butter" that you put in the holes that "clings" to the bug and gets them for sure. In the past I have zaaappppped them with everything known and they just hover in front of me and smile. The traps work and so does the butter. Don't know about bugs this year due to the many days in a row of VERRRRY LOW temps. Hope it did a gooood kill.

Course now, it's time to til the garden again and get in my onion sets from the Dixie outfit.........About a month ago we cleaned out the goat sheds of manure/hay and spread it on the garden........then tilled it in......Talk about sure fire growth...wow oh wow does it work...........Anyway, spring chores are starting for sure......God bless..........Dennis

Dennis I wish I was there, we still have snow and the ground is frozen, I am anxious to plow and till but I haven't even started my early plants inside, our weather is just too crazy. I hope to get some stuff started this week.
