Hello from KY

Just tell me what-the-heck good it is to be a "Southerner" (as you clearly define yourself) if you can't enjoy B-B-Q??? :D

Dougster :starbucks:

Uh....? er...a...? Would you like to clue me in as to exactly what it is you're talking about?!?!?:wtf:

Not sure who/why/where/how you got such an idea that I don't like B-B-Q.

Obviously enough, your lack of knowledge of the Commonwealth of Kentucky has shone forth! Google "Owensboro Kentucky B-B-Q Festival" and you'll receive a free education on that subject.

Being a Southerner is one of those things in life you can't fully understand without being one.

That was a reference to this recent post:
Doc says no caffine, so my DIET PEPSI got down-graded to the Caffine free stuff.

No sugar
No caffine
No salt
No fats
no ect....

I may or may NOT live longer, but with all these restrictions, it's sure to SEEM longer.
No sugar? No salt? No fats? So how do you manage to enjoy a good Southern-style B-B-Q

Let me guess: YOU CHEAT!!!

List B.

Farmwithjunk does.:chef: :smartass:

No direct corralation between two list's.

EDIT;

Meant to mention, todays lunch was pulled pork BBQ, Baked beans, sweet corn, cole slaw and an ice cold Bud Select.

Doctor is probably fuming as we speak.

Burlap wrapped? Let me think about this- was it for the cooling effects of evaporation or identifying the disinfectant bottle  (Brandi- Forgive me if you take offense, I do not intend to slight your dad :respect:. He taught you a thing or two :tiphat: .). Got to leave; need to do the snow dance thing again. Someone has to break the current NE weather patterns . Jay :letitsnow:
Jay,
As everyone else seems to be thinking about Bar-B-Q,Doctors, and Yankee and Southerners, I guess they don't know either. You take the glass bottle of water without burlap and pour on the bottle of burlap. The wind (always around in the Panhandle) chills the wet burlap, thus cooling your drinking water.
hugs, Brandi

Farmwithjunk:

I am originally from the hills of north central PA. I can remember (at times  ) some pretty good snow events there. As you can attest, Kentucky can get some serious weather changes real quick  . Your elevation compounds the effects  . Beautiful country down there :respect: . Jay :letitsnow:

We're right at a sort of blending line where weather from the northern plains rubs up against southwestern weather moving eastward. Locals refer to it as "Ohio Valley weather patterns" (Ohio River Valley) Local saying goes, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes 'cause it'll change".

At various times in my life, I've managed to stomp all over this country and a few places overseas. I'm always ready to get back to my Bluegrass State!

Oh Junk! What are we going to do with you? :pat:

There goes your credibility out the window again!!! :yum: :yum: :yum:

Uh...As much as it pains me to do so, I must correct a bit of misleading information here. It wasn't Daniel Boone that died at the Alamo. He wasn't even there so far as the history books I've read indicate. You MIGHT be confusing Boone with Jim Bowie, who was BORN in Kentucky, or Tennessian DAVY CROCKETT.:sorry:

Daniel Boone died in 1820, in Missouri, at the home of his son Nathan. Boone was 85. (A VERY long life for a man of those times. DOUGSTER, take note; Not only are we KENTUCKIANS tougher'n a $2 steak, we also go on and on like the Energizer Bunny. Don't be a'messin' with us!)

So...? Does this mean Kentucky just lost the support of the Texas contingent?:hide:
FMJ,
Uh, I guess I need to go to bed.:pat: I meant Davy Crockett.:thumb: Around here, we do put Col.:respect: in front of Jim Bowie. As General Sam Houston:respect: (another colorful person from your area) made Jim a Col. in the Texas Army. Col. Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett and his men came from your direction. They lost their lives for the Republic of Texas.:respect: We are in y'alls debt. Also, your right, being a Southerner, just as being a Texan, is just too hard to explain. Ya gotta live it.:tiphat:
hugs, Brandi

At least you draw a clear distinction between the two! :thumb:

The Dougster may be old, but he notices those things! ;)

All those coonskin cap wearin', Kentucky long rifle totin', hard fightin' heros can get a bit confusin' at times.

Things are all quiet over here in SE MA. Cold today, but quiet. I'm happy to leave it quiet right into the weekend. The GF and I are going up to New Hampshire on Saturday to look at a piece of land that could possibly become the new Dougster Swamp after I lose this place to an exploding mortgage and sky-high liberal utopian taxes. It would be nice if it were not under a foot of new snow... and even nicer if the forecast for a warm weekend holds. Yes, I will bring my mud boots for sure! :)

Dougster :starbucks:
Dougster,
I hope you find what you are looking for on. Stay warm. Take some of that Yankee hot tea or lots of :starbucks: with y'all. Also, remember to listen to your GF.:tiphat:
hugs, Brandi

Well Dougster, I am known for being very wise. I have to admit though that I am the only one who knows. I try to teach others about my wisdom but it always seems to fall on deaf ears. :respect: I need :respect:
Al,
I don't know if Dougster :respect:s your or just wants your tractor with that warm cab. :yum::yum:
hugs, Brandi

A little of both! ;) Al clearly has a lot of insight into the characters of NTT... AND... I sure could use a nifty heated and AC'd cab like that on my next tractor!!! That is travelin' in style!!!

I won't move up north.:forgetit: If everything happens the way they say, the Polar ice cap is melting and them northern states will be the prime new feeding grounds for those big white lovable Polar bears. I will move to Ft. Davis in West Texas.
