Help finding Kubota motor I.D.

muleman RIP

Gone But Not Forgotten
Trying to find the model of this motor. It appears to be a Kubota v2203 series but have not found a model or serial # on it. It came from a Carrier Transi-cold reefer trailer and we are fitting it up to run a corn grinder/mixer. It has a cast# above where the starter would go. The # is 2.197 with a symbol that looks like a fish after it. I take this to be liters and that is how I tracked it to a 134.1 c.i. Kubota. The newer engines on the Kubota site are very similar to this but I cant find any finite # on the motor and nowhere does it say Kubota. It is a 4 cyl. Na with an auxillary oil filter setup with twin filters. Any help appreciated. Bill

Thanks! will hit it with a wire brush tomorrow. I am trying to help a local Amish farmer who cuts my wood for me. We found a radiator today and the search is on for a fan to mount on the pulley. Kubota's website leaves a lot to be desired.

you are looking at Kubota industrial right? there is lots more engine info there than the tractor website. We tractor dealers don't have much info on the industrial engines either.

Found the numbers after cleaning it down. They were right under the top block where the injector lines come off the pump. You can tell they were stamped in Japan cause the 2 is not like we are used to seeing. It is a v2203-2329. Thanks! Neil the website only lists a handful of dealers for the U.S. After looking around it I have to say your site is much better. Next up is to try to find a fan to fit the pulley.

Just a follow up on this adventure. Have had no luck with Kubota as far as finding info on this motor. They said in N.J. at the main parts distributor that it must predate their records from 1991. They asked engineering to look into a fan to fit it but after 2 more calls I give up on them. Bobcat dealer said they use that motor but use a hydraulic fan motor. I located an outfit in Detroit who would custom make one for $120 so we are going to turn an adapter on the lathe and fit a 17" flex fan for a GM motor. I have the fan coming tomorrow from NAPA along with fresh filters. A little work on the Bridgeport and we should have things together Monday or Tuesday.

Well we got it running yesterday and it seems strong with good(50psi) oil pressure and very little smoke. Will work on wiring up the original oil pressure and temp safety system. Wish they would have got me involved before they tore everything off. Salvaged the switches and am working on mounting up some gages that were on it. Have to make mounts for the fuel filter system and it should be ready to move out of the shop and place it for the main shaft drive for the carpenter shop he is setting up.
