Help me identify this part

Hey guys, tonite I was mowing a friend's moto track (and pushing over a few errant mesquites) and as I was about to call it quits, the grey hose going to the cooler in front of the radiator ruptured. :puke1: What is the cooler for, hyd fluid or engine oil?

I just changed my oil, so I couldn't go by color. Smells like hyd fluid, I guess. I was a little irritated, so I left the tractor where it was until I can get a replacement hose and fluids.

Thanks!

Not having a crystal ball handy! What are you mowing with? Your profile says this:

Tractors, ATV's, RTV's etc.:
Kubota L2800 HST 4WD Implements - any and all implements ATV & RTV etc. included:
Kubota FEL; LandPride BB, FM, and brush hog.

If you were using that tractor it was definitely not ENGINE oil!

Cooler is for HYD fluid and it was either over filled or you had it overloaded and got it so hot that it expanded and came out of the weakest spot!!

Suggest you check the fluid levels and make sure the static vents are open!

Thanks, Dean. I had the bush hog on. I had checked the crystal ball on the side of the case and it was at the proper level. And it wasn't overheated, oil wasn't hot, nor were the actuators. So I guess I was asking too much of the little guy or the rubber in the low pressure hose was just weak. I don't think anything could have hit it. That area is pretty well guarded, but who knows. I'll pick up a replacement or two today.

I'll check the vents.

You might check the return hose. If the failure is due to age the other one is due for replacement too.

Yeah, Iknow it needs pictures...but someone either stole my camera (kids' friends?) or I lost it somewhere. Just haven't gotten a replacement yet.

It was a simple fix...but when the part was backorder, I went out to the Geo Metro that my daughter wrecked some time back and pulled off a power steering hose. I took it and a two-gallon jug of hyd fluid back to the tractor, cut the hose to the right length and bend, and it's as good as new. I'll have to check on that replacement hose next week.

Things are way too busy for these things to happen with any regularity.
